Very informative article- You don't hear much about it.  But it's an extremely powerful weapon in Israel's arsenal.      (From June 2012.) 

Some advantages:  Israel can claim no human harm to Iranians.  Iran would be sent back into the industrial equivalent of the mid- 1800's.  It would knock out the entire Iranian electric grid.

Yes, an EMP does major damage to civilian, infrastructure, etc.   But even the dumb iranians probably have shielded their military and nuclear electronics.
