This goes far past Bloomberg and the city of New York... This is a regional problem... People should expect to pay a reasonable toll however even what it costs now is excessive let alone numbers like the ones above....While it does cost money to maintain and build new bridges and tunnels there is no way in the world all the toll money being collected is going to that cause... Just what does the city and state use this money for? Toll money should be used to maintain the tunnels,  bridges and even some roadways... Toll money however should not be used to fund the city expenses in order to keep city taxes lower than places getting far fewer services... Commuters are being forced to give blood money in order to fund all the 100,000 + a year pensions people working for the city and Port Authority of Ny & Nj have wangled over the years... If people were to look into the picture they would find this toll money is being used for everything under the sun... The only thing that will put a crimp in ever increasing tolls  is the commuters inability to pay more.... The toll booths seem to be a cash cow for the city that never gets the scrutiny they deserve.
