Sudanese Refugees Demonstrate In Jerusalem
(IsraelNN.com) Some 60 refugees from Sudan demonstrated in Jerusalem on Sunday, begging the Israeli government to allow them to remain in the country. “We have nowhere to go,” said one. “If they return me to Egypt, it will be a death sentence.”
The refugees, who fled the genocide in Darfur, infiltrated into Israel through the Egyptian border. The IDF dumped them in front of the police station in Be’er Sheva last week, saying the army was not responsible for illegal refugees. The municipality announced it would transfer the families to Jerusalem if no solution was found by the government by Sunday.
