This is another reason I can't join anti-bullying groups
« on: December 19, 2012, 12:08:21 PM »
I've discussed why I'm not involved with animal welfare organizations (I do work for animals in my spare time with a TNR program  (8 cats total sterilized in that, 3 in feral colony at  present) and I sometimes donate a couple of dollars to Petsmart and Petco adoption charities when I buy pet food, but I am not part of any pro-animal organization). Major examples why I can't be involved with pro-animal organizations would be the poisoning of dolphins as mentioned in another thread by animal rights activitists and of course the many examples of PETA's atrocities against animals and people.  Most organizations like that are just as corrupt unless they're an individual doing rescue work or a very small organization with a focused purpose.

Well I can't join anti-bullying groups either. This is another cause I believe in very strongly. I've had bullying in my life and I hate that it happens or has happened to anybody else. I try to encourage other people to be kind when I can. I  do what I can to avoid being a bully myself. There are times when you must respond with force or in kind, and it takes some degree of discernment to know when that is,  but many times it's the better thing to let it go or to respond with kindness.

At any rate, last night I was listening to Mike Huckbaee's radio show as I sometimes do before I go in to work and I happened to hear him mention that there were some people saying Christmas carols were a form of bullying. Now I know Christmas carols aren't everyone's cup of tea. I know some people have some bad associations with Christmas if they link it to bad behavior from Christians, etc. but come on people, singing a song is not bullying unless it's directed at a person.

Here's the Huffington Post article:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/18/christmas-carol-bullying-missoula_n_2324673.html

I could see it being considered bullying if an individual had specifically told you that they are offended by Christmas carols and you start singing them deliberately to target them whenever they show up in order to harass them, but carols themselves are not bullying.

It is plainly obvious "anti-bullying" is just a slogan meant to part innocent people from their dollars.

I read the brief article... it didn't say so, but this smells like the FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation) ...
Isaiah 5:20

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

I think you're right about that! What makes me sad about that is that in the mean time, kids are still being tortured by other kids and even adults if they're a little bit different from the other kids. One girl's parents even had to get her plastic surgery to pin her ears back because they stuck out.

I remember that I used to get physically attacked on the school bus. Kids would just punch me, etc. One time they grabbed my jacket and spit all over it and when I finally got it back it had loogies all over it. So the bus driver put me up at the front of the bus and said this is where she puts trouble makers even though I hadn't caused any trouble. If anything I was too good about following rules, etc. That's pretty typical though. The adults think the kid being bullied is the troublemaker but they don't do anything to the kids that are actually being bullies. Also the adults participate in the bullying by demonizing the victim as if they were the troublemaker. If a kid attacks you and you hit back to defend yourself, then you're probably going to be the one to get sent to detention and told you were doing wrong, etc. because they didn't see the other kid hit you first. But if a kid holds up a lit lighter to your face and the teachers don't see it, that kid doesn't have anything done to them either because none of the other kids will tell on them.

Something needs to be done about this. Primarily the attittude from teachers needs to change because they see the bullied kid as the source of the trouble or even as a potential victim for themselves to take advantage of. They seem to think that it's the kid's fault for being targeted in the first place even if it has to do with something they can't help. Also if a teacher is a predatory type then they will target those kids who are being bullied. I remember this one teacher telling me that she would meet with me in private to do an art project but I couldn't tell anybody about it. I didn't think anything bad but I got a weird feeling about it, and told some people about it and later on she said I'd broken her trust and so we wouldn't be doing the art project. I was too young at the time to realize that she probably had something very bad planned if I were to end up getting alone with her.

Something seriously needs to be done to protect kids from this kind of thing both from adults and other kids because I don't think any child should have to be afraid to go to school.

I have had some bullying in my school days too and on some occasions also when I fought back I was blamed by some insensitive teachers. I think the campaign is pointless because it's not like the bullies don't know they do something wrong, or that the other kids aren't aware of it (usually the point is that they see and laugh and participate in the humiliation), and the teachers are also aware it takes place.
