Israel - A hareidi-religious soldier has decided to sue the Walla news network for using his image in an article about draft dodging. The soldier, David Goldberg Dvir, argues that his picture was altered. In the original photo, he says, he was wearing an army helmet and holding a gun. In the photo used by Walla, only his face was shown, and readers were unable to see his uniform or weapon.
According to Dvir, the resulting image, when used as a link to an article accusing tens of thousands of hareidi-religious men of draft dodging, created the impression that he had unfairly avoided IDF service. He is charging Walla with slander, and is asking for NIS 51,000 and a public apology. [arutz7]
