Could Kahane alone have stopped Oslo? Can Chaim?
« on: June 01, 2013, 01:35:36 PM »
Oslo was signed in 1993. Had the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who was disabled in 1992, been around, he could definitely have rallied enough numbers in mass opposition and could have forced the Haredi parties to vote against it.

What would have been R.Kahane's tactic if he'd been alive in 1993?

Oslo is still on the table and further retreats are pending.

If Chaim was in Israel today, what would/could he do, bearing in mind that just for saying the words "Aravim Hachutzah" will get you 18 months in Lod jail!

No one can say what the outcome would have been but he sure as he// would have tried.  Very few even try.

One could argue that if Kahane was still alive, oslo couldn't have happened.  The choice between arafat and Kahane would have been more palpable and people may have embraced a Jewish state.
Or alternatively, you could argue the right wing reactionist forces that elected netanyahu on the anti oslo sentiment in 1998 would have elected Kahane instead.  Who knows.  One thing for certain is that we lost a great deal when he was murdered.
