Wait... isn't the symbol for islam a crescent shaped moon? I guess they better issue a fatwa on the symbol of islam!

While an appeals court ruled Tuesday that New York City’s limit on the size of sugary soft drinks served in restaurants is unconstitutional, it appears rebels in Syria have also gotten into the act of policing food.

A sharia committee linked to Islamist rebels in Aleppo, Syria has issued a fatwa declaring croissants to be “haram,” that is, forbidden under Islamic sharia law.

Al Arabiya reports that the reasoning behind banning the buttery pastry is that “croissants’ crescent shape celebrates European victory over Muslims.”

If Muslims stuck to doing silly things like this rather than killing people they'd be a lot less hated.

According to culinary legend the Croissant was invented in Vienna to celebrate the defeat of the Ottoman Turks at the battle of Vienna in their second and last attempt to conquer Vienna.

Would it be considered a hate crime if I gave my muslim neighbor a croissant?

Ironic isn't it? Since they are shaped like a crescent moon.

Isn't the name Croissant related to the word Cross? I also have heard that pretzels were originally Xtian also.
