I remember a teacher telling me something similar, to stop raising my hand all the time because I was intimidating other kids by having the answers to the questions she was asking and that I needed to let other kids "have a chance" to answer. She got irritated because I was often the only one who would raise my hand to answer. She even started giving me dirty looks when she would call on someone else deliberately, they'd give the wrong answer, and she'd be forced to call on me and I'd give the right one, again....
