High Holiday Music, of all kinds
«

Shalom my JTF friends,
I hope everyone is aware that the High Holidays (Rosh Hashanah - Yom Kippur - Sukkot) are beginning in a little over a week from today. The evening of Wednesday September 4th is the first night of Rosh Hashanah and I am sure everyone has already made plans for the entire Holiday season. I made my plans last week (I was torn between attending the services of two of my Rabbis)...
I am starting this thread for posts containing Holday music of all kinds, traditional, non-traditional, rock, hip-hop, ashkenazi and sephardi melodies.... Virtually anything having to do with the Jewish holidays.
I'd like to start with the latest pop Rosh Hashanah song posted on youtube by Aish.com...

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

Ok, the last video didn't have much 'Rosh Hashanah' music but rather Nah Nach music.... I hope you liked it...
I know I have posted this Prodezra Beats Rosh Hashana video several times, but it is a classic (IMO). I have this song on a CD I am listening to in my car on my drive to work every day...

Alright, not exactly music, but how about an introduction to the concept of Rosh Hashana?

My favorite Leonard Cohen song.... 'Who By Fire' which is losely based on BeRosh Hashanah:
"On Rosh Hashanah will be inscribed and on Yom Kippur will be sealed how many will pass from the earth and how many will be created; who will live and who will not; who will die at his predestined time and who before his time; who by water and who by fire; who by sword, who by beast, who by famine, who by thirst, who by storm, who by plague, who by strangulation, and who by stoning. Who will rest and who will wander, who will live in harmony and who will be harried, who will enjoy tranquillity and who will suffer, who will be impoverished and who will be enriched, who will be degraded and who will be exalted."
