Political and Spiritual Song about It and Us.

Pendulum modified

I've been walkin' a tightrope between fact and fiction.
Been wrestlin' with demons in small-housing prisons.
Been talkin' to sinners who claim to be Christian.
Been writing to leaders who claim to be listening.

And the pendulum swings from the left to the right.
Its momentum increases the need for the fight,
Like a moment of blindness in a lifetime of sight.
And I am caught somewhere in the middle.

I saw a president blind to the needs of his nation.
Thought of senators bribed by expensive vacations.
Saw pictures of bankers whose money was evil.
Saw crosses broke-free from the tops of their steeples.

Saw drunkards and cripples lyin' in squalor,
And sons whose sins had exceeded their fathers.
Saw a nation of sleepers whose dreams were forgotten,
And bushels of apples from trees that were rotten.

And a pendulum swings from the left to the right.
Momentum increases the need for the fight,
Like a blindfold when its time to walk toward the Light.
And I am caught somewhere in the middle.

Felt the pain of the suffering in the valley of evil,
Felt the shaking of earthquakes while under the covers.
I heard a court jester whose vocals were twisted:
He told us of change that should never exist-

And heard voices that claimed to be moral and righteous,
Whose lies and deception were dark and contagious.
Heard talk of some churches that valued their freedom,
But when I spoke Truth, they reject and mistreated.

And the pendulum swings from the left to the right.
Its momentum increases the weight and the height.
But if nobody's listening, is anyone right?
But I recently found the key to the riddle.

I met a lost woman with damage inside her;
I looked but there wasn't a safe place to hide her.
I knew of a Prophet with a face like a mirror:
I re-read his words so that I could see clearer.

But an arrogant leader who robs us and cheats us,
Pretends that his laws come directly from Jesus;
He sends out our soldiers to strange foreign soil
To kill for the right to their terrorist oil.

Yes I'm raising my voice to the House of derision,
That murders our freedoms with shortsighted vision.
I thought about life, a new civilization,
The Temple of God, and the death of a nation.

And Wisdom hailed the poor and the lonely,
And reminded His servants: Repentance comes slowly.
I mentioned His name to the angels in heaven,
And prayed that the world don't wind up where its headin'.

And the pendulum swings from the left to the right;
Its momentum decreases; The end is in sight.
There's a lunatick plannin' our future tonight,
And I am caught somewhere in the middle,
Somewhere in the middle,
Somewhere in the middle.
