The old Dershbag is still blowing air... He obviously, from my perspective, doesn't really care about Judaism or Jewish issues, and as a lawyer he defends some of the worst...
I don't really know what he means that he 'didn't take to the kind of dictation of what to think' when he was talking about math... What difference does religion make in the topic of math, and when you think about math you think about strict rules of dictation (2+2=4 {not 5 or 6})....
Maybe a good lawyer could get someone to agree that 2+2=5 1/2 or 6 if he had a good argument..
