Curious.
« on: August 12, 2007, 08:24:37 PM »
My mother's family are Jewish but she is by no means religious. As far as I know, according to Jewish law this means that I am also Jewish. I don't really understand this, I know very little about Judaism, have only set foot in a synagogue once in my life, and my diet isn't kosher.

It's not that I am a 'self-hater' or anything, but why should I be defined by a law that I don't believe in?

According to Judaism, by essence of its law and tradition, you are Jewish.

How you choose to 'define' yourself is completely your own decision.

According to Islamic law, I'm an infidel. That doesn't make me identify or define myself as an infidel.

If you are a Jew, then perhaps you should look into it.  You were brought to this forum for a reason. :)
