Why are people so much against the John Birch Society?

Years ago the late Avi Osdoba,A"H shlepped me to a few John Birch Society meetings & they agree with most of the same things we do.
I found absolutely nothing Anti-Semitic about them.

Nothing i had a friend who was a member.Before they allow you to be a member they come to your house and interview you.They want to make sure the person isn't some kind of nut.

This is what Rabbi Antelman told me.
From the 2 or 3 meetings I attended their positions are in line with ours,but this was in the late 70's early 80's.
