PRIŠTINA -- A Muslim cleric described as "one of the main inspirators of Jihad in Kosovo" has been placed under arrest, the Albanian language media in Priština said.

Zekerija Cazimi is the imam of the El-Kuddus mosque in the town of Gnjilan and was arrested by the Kosovo police on Thursday morning on suspicion that he was "one of the main inspirators of Jihad."

Beside the 34-year-old imam, another suspect, 27-year-old L.K. from the village of Polac in the Srbica municipality has also been placed under arrest.

The police said that Cazimi was found not in his home, but "hidden in his vehicle in a mountain area nearby."

The police also said they "confiscated material evidence," and are holding the suspect in 48-hour detention.
