He is Russian, not Jewish. From this forum, where he was asked this question, he replied that he is Russian and that he is not a bit xenophobic.
Seems to me an upstanding guy.

Last name Levin, while  typically Jewish, also could be of Russian origin -loosely meaning "Lefty".

He may have Jewish ancestry the name Levin suggests that the person is a Levi or had a Levi in his background.
Most Jews I know named Levin are Leviim
