The Neo-Socialist Global Warming Farce
« on: September 22, 2014, 05:16:11 PM »
Shalom,

The hype is being racheted up this week by the Eco-weenies of the world (triggered by wonk Al Gores fallacious thesis) who are demonstrating all over the world to draw attention to the false belief in Man-made global warming. What is most bizarre about this is that it is happened while more data supports the position that there is NO GLOBAL WARMING for the last 18 years. That is right, the temperature has not increased year by year for the last 2 decades. This throws a VERY BIG monkey wrench into the entirely flawed theory, and despite the recent announcement from the White House that GW theory is not 'Settled science'  (as some whack-jobs enjoy proclaiming) the drone beat of the eco-weenies continues.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/item/19171-amid-no-warming-in-18-years-peoples-climate-march-ridiculed

Amid no increase in temperatures for almost two decades and record-high levels of sea ice, tens of thousands of global-warming protesters, maybe more, marched in New York City on Sunday demanding a wide array of absurdities and totalitarian measures. Among other schemes ridiculed by experts, “People’s Climate March” organizers and partners, many of whom arrived on fossil-fuel guzzling busses or private jets, pushed for an end to fossil fuels (or a return to the stone ages, global poverty, and mass deaths), a United Nations-run “climate” regime to battle the “gas of life” carbon dioxide, and much more.

Despite widespread ridicule of climate alarmists amid the implosion of their theories, UN boss Ban Ki-moon, politicians, numerous celebrities, and discredited climate guru Al Gore all marched, too. Organized by billionaire front groups, the Communist Party USA, and myriad other “useful idiots” — a term used by establishment insiders to describe their dupes — the march in New York reportedly attracted a few hundred thousand people, at least if the estimates provided by organizers of dubious credibility are to be believed. Other estimates suggested the numbers were in the tens of thousands. Similar marches, though much smaller, occurred in other major cities around the world.

From the start, it was clear that promoting global socialism was at the top of the agenda. “A socialist world that will deliver a high standard of living for all,” declared a self-declared socialist politician speaking at the opening rally to widespread applause. More than a few marchers were caught chanting obscenities against police while attacking “capitalism” as the source of humanity’s problems.

Other participants highlighted one of the key themes of the march as described on its website — changing “everything” from the economy to civilization. “We said it would take everyone to change everything — and everyone showed up,” claimed Eddie Bautista, executive director of the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance, echoing the “change everything” theme pushed by organizers.

Despite the hype by marchers and the establishment press, however, polls consistently show that a solid majority of Americans rejects the man-made global-warming theories pushed by the marchers, the UN, and the Obama administration. According to a recent Pew poll, for example, 53 percent of Americans reject the controversial theory. Even among the remaining faithful, however, dealing with alleged CO2-driven warming remains at the bottom of people’s priority lists. A recent Gallup poll showed just one percent of respondents see “environment and pollution” as the most important problem facing America.

“Environmental activists have tried really hard in recent years to raise the profile of greenhouse gas issues,” Dan Simmons, vice president for policy at the market-oriented Institute for Energy Research, told Fox News. “Limiting greenhouse gas is not something that the majority of Americans consider one of the most pressing issues of our time.”

Former Obama Official: Climate Change Not 'Settled' Science
Sunday, 21 Sep 2014 06:11 PM
By Sandy Fitzgerald

A former high-ranking Obama administration official says climate science and the implications of global warming are not "settled," insisting such claims are "misguided" and stifle debate on the matter.

Writing a Page One story in the Wall Street Journal Weekend Review section, Dr. Steven Koonin argues that group think among experts has been inhibiting "the scientific and policy discussions that we need to have about our climate future."

Koonin, who served at the Energy Department as President Obama’s undersecretary for science in the Energy Department, is director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress at New York University.

Urgent: Do You Approve Or Disapprove of President Obama's Job Performance? Vote Now in Urgent Poll

Koonin’s position strikes a blow against climate change activists as People’s Climate March organized demonstrations at more than 2,000 locations worldwide.

In New York, tens of thousands participated in the demonstration demanding urgent steps against carbon emissions as the United Nation’s General Assembly opened.

"We often hear that there is a 'scientific consensus' about climate change," writes Koonin.  "But as far as the computer models go, there isn't a useful consensus at the level of detail relevant to assessing human influences."

Koonin says his extensive training as a computational physicist with a 40-year career of scientific research and management, has given him an up-close knowledge of climate science.

"Detailed technical discussions during the past year with leading climate scientists have given me an even better sense of what we know, and don't know, about climate," writes Koonin.

The point, Koonin says, isn't whether the climate is changing, as "the climate has always changed and always will."

Further, he says, there is little doubt that humans are influencing climate change, as greenhouse gases, mainly from carbon-dioxide emissions, have had an effect.

But the main question remains about how the climate will change under both natural and man-made influences, which will affect energy and infrastructure choices.

"Those questions are the hardest ones to answer," writes Koonin.

However, Koonin adds, while humans can cause serious issues for the climate, "they are physically small in relation to the climate system as a whole," with additions to carbon dioxide to "directly shift the atmosphere's natural greenhouse effect by only 1% to 2%."

Other scientists have argued that the sun’s solar activity has a much greater impact on earth temperatures that human activities.

Meanwhile, while the Earth's average surface temperature has risen by 0.9 degree Fahrenheit over the last quarter of the 20th century, the increase has been much slower over the past 16 years, while the human contribution to carbon dioxide has gone up by 25 percent.

"Yet the models famously fail to capture this slowing in the temperature rise," says Koonin. "Several dozen different explanations for this failure have been offered, with ocean variability most likely playing a major role. But the whole episode continues to highlight the limits of our modeling."

Koonin says current global warming models have limitations. Many advocates of global warming dismiss or downplay contradictory data, he writes.

To this end, Koonin cites:

* Models that show Arctic ice melting over the past 20 years forget to note the almost equal growth of ice across Antarctica, which he says is “now at a record high.”

* A prediction that the “lower atmosphere in the tropics will absorb much of the heat of the warming atmosphere” has not materialized.
The fact global sea levels in the first half of the 20th century rose at almost the same rate as today.

* Climate sensitivity— "that is, the warming induced by a hypothetical doubling of carbon-dioxide concentration," he says is "no different, and no more certain" than it was 30 years ago.

These, and many other factors that are still not decided will not allow lawmakers and the public to make a definite decision when it comes to climate change, he contends.

"But I fear that rigidly promulgating the idea that climate science is 'settled' (or is a 'hoax') demeans and chills the scientific enterprise, retarding its progress in these important matters, he writes.

"Uncertainty is a prime mover and motivator of science and must be faced head-on. It should not be confined to hushed sidebar conversations at academic conferences ...

"Any serious discussion of the changing climate must begin by acknowledging not only the scientific certainties but also the uncertainties, especially in projecting the future."

Looks like the weather forecasters see a cold winter this year.... Maybe they will even call it 'global cooling'?

Forecaster: Expect Colder Temperatures, More Snow This Winter
Monday, 22 Sep 2014 05:34 PM
By Bill Hoffmann

Mother Nature is gearing up to clobber the United States with much colder temperatures this winter, according to Joe Bastardi, chief forecaster for WeatherBELL Analytics.

"We believe it will be a major cold winter for much of the United States, but the worst of it … will be centered further south and east," Bastardi said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"[That includes] the Ohio Valley, the mid-Atlantic states into the southwest, the southern plains."

The so-called I-95 corridor will also get whacked, especially Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., Bastardi predicted.

"We expect a much snowier than normal winter. For instance, D.C. averages 16 to 20 inches. I wouldn't be surprised to get at least 30.

"Philadelphia, I don't think we're going to get as high as last year but we are going to get quite a bit of snow and if you remember 2009, 2010, and 2002, 2003, that is the kind of winter."

Making the forecasts even more dramatic will be storms from the Gulf of Mexico trying to make their way north and trigger "a couple of super shots of brutally cold air" into the U.S.

"So it looks like a hard winter to us overall," Bastardi said.
