Should Jews be goig to Israel?

This is an age old question that has been facing the Jewish people since the building of the second Jewish Temple. Should the Jews be moving to Israel?

The Jewish people make up a tiny minority of the worldwide population, and yet you still find Jews in virtually every main city all over thejerusalem-western-walla world. With a booming Israeli economy and every flavor of Jew imaginable currently living here, perhaps it is time for every Jew to return to the Holy Land?



There are certainly a number of valid reasons now for Jews to make the move to Israel, and plenty of helping hands ready to assist. For example, Nefesh B’Nefesh provides all sorts of assistance to Jews who seek to make aliyah, taking them through the entire process from start to finish and beyond. Communities in Israel are also happy to welcome in new ‘olim’ – newcomers to the land – and help them integrate to Israeli society and culture.

Then there are Rabbis who who spoke on the subject:

    “This declaration I find fitting to issue for all of the Jews of the world to hear. It is incumbent upon them to return to the Land of Israel due to terrible natural disasters which threaten the world. In the future, the Holy One, Blessed be He, will bring about great disasters in the countries of the world to sweeten the judgments of the Land of Israel. I am ordering the publication of this declaration as a warning, so that Jews in the countries of the world will be aware of the impending danger and will come to the Land of Israel for the building of the Temple and revelation of our righteous Mashiach.” – Rav Kaduri (September 13, 2005)

All the nations are one day going to come together and start talking peace amongst themselves. This talk of peace will have one underlying goal: to destroy Israel. And their rationale shall be: because they [the Jews] established for themselves their own government; and though the Jews will be in tremendous danger at that time, nevertheless they will not be destroyed; in fact, from that very situation they will be saved. – Rabbi Moshe Cordevero (Ramak) on Zohar Bereishit 199, – approximately 500 years ago
