How can we repay Jonathan Pollard on the day after?
« on: August 02, 2015, 01:34:55 AM »
Assuming Pollard will be released in the not too distant future as advertised in the media, how can we repay Jonathan Pollard for all the sacrifice and suffering he has endured for the Jewish People. Especially unlike the Shalit family, he has requested that Israel not make dangerous concessions to secure his release, showing how he puts the interests of Jewish people above his own personal interests.
Showing gratitude is a major ethical principle in Judaism. Not only because it encourages others to also act properly but because good actions in their own right need to be recognized and praised.
What is the best way to show our gratitude if A] He is kept back by the USA authorities for another 5 years in the USA outside of jail. B] If he is granted permission to immediately leave for Israel.

I would start with first sending him a letter of gratitude..I don't know how well Jonathan Pollard will be financially..So maybe there will be a legitimate Tzedakah organization..

I'll bet that there won't be a big deal over Pollard being freed.

Will Peres and the Mossad allow Pollard to live long enough to flay them to shreds at his first news conference? I think not!

A fund to truly help support Jonathan Pollard and other Jewish prisoners ( including in Israel ) that shouldn't have been sent to prison sounds like a terrific idea.
"Israel's leaders seem to be more afraid of Obama than they are of G-d. Now we're getting to the real root of the problem. Secular politics won't save Israel. Denying the divine nature of the Jewish State has brought Israel neither stability nor peace. When that changes Israel will finally be blessed with both in abundance"-----------NormanF   ( Posted on Israel Matzav's Blog )

Not going to happen that is not how parole or probation works
He will be basically a free man but for the duration of his parole he can not leave the U.S., nor his state & county of residence.
I asked my cousin who is a retired parole & probation officer he said that is how it works.

Chaim was allowed to visit Israel when he was on parole.
Not in Pollard's case Chaim probably had a nice officer but generally they do not allow it.

They release him now. He should not be in prison!
