Why do many people believe Jews to be a race separate from White, Black, Asian?

I am surprised and how many down votes I get on forums for clarifying that Judaism is a religion, and not a race. Jews can look like anyone, it would be impossible to tell a Jew if he or she were not wearing some kind of religious garb to indicate their religious denomination. When I read from people how Jewish people have ''disproportionately large noses/facial features'', I literally have my mouth wide open, appalled how people can really be this ignorant.

There are genetic differences, but they're not significant enough to classify Jews as a distinct race. I think the racial classification is just thinly veiled Jew hatred.

I like Rabbi Kahane's definition of Jews as a "religio-nation" as it is the most accurate.
