One point that I disagree with the Chabad article that I quoted above is on the following
Furthermore, an individual who was raised in a non-religious atmosphere and was never accorded a proper Jewish education cannot be held responsible for his or her lack of observance.10 This general rule applies to individuals who opt to be cremated because their education and upbringing did not equip them with the knowledge necessary to make an informed choice in this area. This assumption impacts some of the legal results presented above.]
I think the above statement is too extreme.
Just as Gentiles are expected to seek out what are their requirements under the 7 laws of Noah, I think all Jews have an expected minimum that they must keep or believe in.
It could be on the issue of cremation itself, this might be a type of issue that under certain circumstances, a Jew might be judged less harshly if he did it due to poor upbringing.
On the other hand cremation is also often associated with an ideology of denial of the resurrection of the dead.
This will cause the Jew who holds such an ideology severe problems in his judgement by G-d
To quote the Soncino translation of the Mishna in Sanhedrin 90a
MISHNAH. ALL ISRAEL HAVE A PORTION IN THE WORLD TO COME, FOR IT IS
WRITTEN, THY PEOPLE ARE ALL RIGHTEOUS; THEY SHALL INHERIT THE LAND FOR
