A 17-year-old teenager was arrested on Sunday by police in the northern town of Migdal Haemek over suspicions he sprayed swastikas in the town, the police confirmed Monday.


 

The teenager was arrested after a neighbor caught him spraying a swastika on his car.

Police asked the court to extend his remand for further questioning.

 

Detectives want to know if the teenager, who immigrated to Israel from the Ukraine few years ago, acted on his own initiative or whether he is part of a neo-Nazi gang.

 

The teenager admitted he had sprayed swastikas on cars and public shelters in the city.

 

"The teenager's version is being checked. We are checking whether there are other teenagers involved," a police spokesperson said.

Members of a neo-Nazi gang were arrested in Petah Tikva last week and charged with incitement and causing bodily harm to a number of victims.
