Google needs to be broken up. It's an illegal monopoly that censors conservatives and opponents of Communist China.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chinese netizens on Wednesday (May 13) discovered that YouTube is automatically blocking the Chinese term "communist bandit" within 15 seconds.

On Wednesday, human rights activist Jennifer Zeng posted a video of a person entering the epithet "communist bandit" (共匪) in the comment box beneath a YouTube video. Within 15 seconds after posting the comment, it mysteriously and inexplicably disappears.

The term is an anti-communist insult which was first coined by the Kuomintang in the early 20th Century and was used extensively by the Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石) government during the martial law era in Taiwan. The Chinese character "共" (gong), is short for 共產主義 (gongchan zhuyi, communism), while the character "匪" means "bandit," and was used extensively during China's Warlord Era.

Taiwan News typed the term in Chinese characters in the comment box in a few different YouTube videos and indeed within 15 seconds, the comment had been automatically excised. It is not clear why YouTube is automatically censoring this word.

According to Google, it's an accident.

"This appears to be an error in our enforcement systems and we are investigating," YouTube said.

Does anyone believe Google's lies anymore?

This is a highly specific term critical of the Communist Party, and one that it would want banned. Does anyone seriously believe that its addition was accidental? Google should be dragged in for hearings about its relationship with China.

Since 2018, Google has been cooperating with a leading artificial intelligence (AI) research body at Tsinghua University, a prestigious Chinese academic institution that also conducts AI research for the Chinese military.

Google also faced criticism after information emerged in 2018 that it was secretly developing a censored search app for the Chinese market as part of a project dubbed “Dragonfly.”

YouTube has recently started to demonetize content that is critical of the Chinese Communist Party and China's handling of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

If you look for content on Google, they filter the search results and sort them in a way, that you didn't find or very difficultly find information that is critical of Merkel, the EU, Demonrats, Soros and Chinese KP.

I think there are two strategies and people who influence Big Tech. China makes it directly with pure economic power and the rest uses NGOs.

But the second camp is very weak. First lost conflict between the camps was the Muslim Uigures. Second was Hongkong. Third will be Taiwan.

Against Russia they lost too in Georgia, Syria and in Ukraine. If Iran would be not so crazy, the victory in Syria would be a total one.

I have noticed how it runs. First all the main stream media and the NGOs ralley for sanctions against China and Joshua Wong is in every newspaper and TV station. Money flows to fuel in the protests .Then China cracks down hard. And then from praised EU and Merkel comes: We need good relationship with China, we have important economic relations and so on, but we promise you, that we will address this diplomatically and so on.

Against Russia, were they do sanctions because of the lower economic consequences but they loose in the end also.

And small Israel has won also all conflicts. Even very moderate Netanyahu wants now to annex parts of Judea and Samaria. EU has already threatened Israel. Empty words.

I think the so called elites in the west are finished. They lie to the people and please them with money, that they don't have. Everything is fake. Fake power, fake wealth, fake news.

Soon Big Tech will even be more China, because there they see the future.

These people have not changed in the last decades. They are utterly insane off of power and ego, and they outsourced their protection to brainwashing citizens into defending them, so there's nothing they can do but lie, and in the words of Daniel Greenfield, the only reason their laughable plans succeed is that no one opposes them.

Now they are deleting all mention of the army of barely-fed slaves China keeps to make comments on social media that serve the communist party's interests. This is otherwise known as the 50 cent party, saying they're paid 50 cents a day to be commie trolls.

YouTube Disappears Comments Critical of Chinese Propaganda Program [UPDATED]

[See update below.]

The Chinese Communist Party is really amazingly thin-skinned. (I realize this is not news to anyone.) The Party provides immense amounts of propaganda to the outside world.

It has been egregious enough that Foreign Policy noticed:

“On Twitter, Chinese diplomats have been promoting a conspiracy theory that the U.S. Army brought COVID-19 to China.”

China’s use of foreign social media was blatant enough that Twitter was acting against information-warfare accounts by August of last year:

This disclosure consists of 936 accounts originating from within the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Overall, these accounts were deliberately and specifically attempting to sow political discord in Hong Kong, including undermining the legitimacy and political positions of the protest movement on the ground. Based on our intensive investigations, we have reliable evidence to support that this is a coordinated state-backed operation. Specifically, we identified large clusters of accounts behaving in a coordinated manner to amplify messages related to the Hong Kong protests.

One specific information operation is the 五毛党 or “Fifty Cent Party,” a slang term for paid commenters. Today, Palmer Luckey, founder of Oculus, among other things, observed:

Any mention of the 五毛党 in Chinese in a YouTube comment was almost instantly boojumed.
Comments About Chinese Propaganda Operation Suddenly Vanish

This seemed so blatant that I wasn’t sure I believed it. So I tried it:

YouTube, Censorship, China

The comment posted:

YouTube, Censorship, China

Sure enough, minutes later it was gone:

YouTube Censors Chinese Propaganda name

I tried just “wumao” instead of “wumaodang”, and sure enough:

YouTube Censors Chinese Propaganda name

Were they simply deleting anything in Chinese? Apparently not:

YouTube Censorship not applied to other Chinese phrases
YouTube Censorship of a Chinese Phrase?

So here’s a puzzle: YouTube is a U.S. company and isn’t even accessible inside the People’s Republic. What makes naming a Chinese propaganda operation so sensitive?

I asked YouTube:

Palmer Luckey has observed that the phrase 五毛 in YouTube comments results in the comment being instantly deleted. I tried it as an experiment and observed that both 五毛 and 五毛党 on completely unrelated videos cause comments to be deleted almost instantly.
The phrase is slang for “paid commenter”.
Can YouTube comment on why this phrase is being censored?

No answer so far.

UPDATE: Google got back to me. A YouTube spokesperson gave me the following statement:  “This appears to be an error in our enforcement systems and we are investigating. Users can report suspected issues to troubleshoot errors and help us make product improvements.”
