They are "open orthodox" which is reform. Why would they care what the OU says?

Because they are a OU members & the OU told them either cease & desist immediately or be expelled from the OU also they were given 3 years to get rid of their maharat/Rabbah or get expelled!!!!

I'm glad that they are stopping it.  They shouldn't preform them to begin with.

They so far do not perform them they only made kiddushim in  shul on Shabbos & announcements in their shul bulletin after a civil marriage in city hall. Weiss is pushing the envelope but he won't go against something d'oraisa like reform & the grossly misnamed "conservative" do at least not yet!!!!
