The Flags of Israel
« on: December 03, 2019, 05:23:39 PM »
The Jewish Community of Zagreb published a book about the flags of Israel written by Željko Heimer. If you are into vexillology, get a copy of the book. If not, you will still find it interesting. The book is written in Croatian and English. Here is an excerpt from page 21:

"It is no coincidence that the colors of blue and white were so globally adopted as the basic colors of the flags of the Jewish organizations in the 19th century. It is generally considered that the first mention of white and blue as the Jewish national colors was in the verses of the Austrian-Hungarian Jewish writer Ludwig August Frankl:

White-blue are Judah's borders;
White is the priestly brilliance,
And blue the sparkle of heaven."
Gentiles are obligated to fulfill the Seven Noahide Commandments because they are the eternal command of God, transmitted through Moses our teacher in the Torah. The main and best book on details of Noahide observance is "The Divine Code" by Rabbi Moshe Weiner.

Sounds interesting. I'm not into flags but still it is part of Jewish history. I will search it.
