Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Monday blasted Senate Democrats for failing to vote in favor of cloture on a motion to proceed on the Republican-authored CARES Act on Monday. According to the Texas senator, Democrats are using the Wuhan coronavirus relief package to add partisan amendments that advance the progressive agenda.

"'The same quote from Rham Emanuel, President Obama's chief of staff: 'Never let a good crisis go to waste.' Sadly, we're seeing the embodiment of that cynical approach right now. Because all the people out of jobs, the Democrats are using to push – what are they pushing for? Changing the emission standards on airplanes," Cruz said. "Mr. President, what the hell do the emissions standards on airplanes have to do with thousands of people dying and millions of people out of work in the coronavirus epidemic?"

The Texas senator said Democrats shouldn't use the Wuhan coronavirus relief package like a "partisan Christmas."

"And you know, Republicans, we got things we'd like to advance too. Things I believe in deeply. Know what I'd like to do? I'd like to abolish the IRS," he said.

Cruz reminded the American people that has he continually campaigned and pushed for abolishing the taxing agency but "I'm not standing here with an amendment saying, 'As part of this emergency relief, let's abolish the IRS.'"

He made the argument that there is a "time and place" for these types of discussions but this relief package is not appropriate.

"The Democrats are pushing wind and solar tax credits. Mr. President, what in the hell does a windmill have to do with this crisis?" Cruz asked. "Other than there are some Democratic lobbyists getting fat and rich and they're willing to extort a crisis to advance their political agenda."

In addition to regulating airplane emissions, the Democrats also want to attach an amendment requiring corporations' board of directors have "diversity," something Cruz referred to as "social engineering."

The senator made the comment that he favors placing restrictions on corporate boards as a means of protecting the stakeholders "but [the Democrats] want to mandate effectively quotas on boards of directors."

"Mr. President, what in the hell does that have to do with this crisis?" Cruz asked.

He also mentioned Speaker Nancy Pelosi's wishlist that includes restructuring the United States Postal Service's debt.

"Mr. President, last I checked – look, our postal workers, they go through wind, rain and snow, but they haven't been laid off," Cruz said.

"I call upon both sides. Don't play games with us. This crisis isn't going to end tomorrow. This crisis isn't going to end the next day. It's going to last a considerable time," he said. "It's going to require adults to step up and leave."

UPDATE: Text of the provisions has been added below.

As previously reported, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi came back to Washington D.C. last night after a week long recess and blew up days of emergency relief work done by the Senate. She wants to write her own far left bill and now we know what will be in it.

According to a source close to the process on Capitol Hill, in order to move forward with any kind of relief package, Pelosi and her far-left Democrat caucus will demand the following be included:

-Publication of corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards

-A bail out on all current debt at the Postal Service

-Required early voting

-Required same day voter registration

-Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining

-Full offset of airline emissions by 2025

-Publication and reporting of greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights

-Retirement plans for community newspaper employees

-Federal $15 minimum wage

-Permanent paid leave

-Study on climate change mitigation efforts

The provisions will apply to the companies and business rescued by the bill.

We play the game where we say "imagine what the left would do if it was us doing it" far too much. All we're saying is we're nutless and won't fight for what's right anywhere near as hard as they fight for what's wrong. There needs to be some kind of nationwide protest, even if it's just people throwing fliers from their balcony or holding signs, against these evil beasts. If every leftist in congress left the world G-d willing, it's less deaths than they're causing with just this.

People tend to come together in moments of crisis, most people anyway. There’s always that selfish jerk in a zombie movie interested in grabbing the wads of cash or something else they’d always wanted but couldn’t get before everything went to hell, and it usually costs them. Democrats are that selfish guy. And while it varies what the cost is in the movies – either his life or the life of someone else – in the case of coronavirus, let it be the political lives of every Democrat, because they truly are bad people.

It’s not uncommon for must-pass bills to be treated like Christmas trees – with Members of Congress hanging their personal ornaments on it knowing an earmark for their district or state will not be noticed because the bill is so big. These bills tend to be rushed through, usually in the last minute to fend off a shutdown, where lives are not at risk, so it’s an easy game to play. But Democrats have chosen to play this game with lives at risk, lives they are putting more at risk to win payoffs to their base.

The words necessary to accurately describe how opportunistic and disgusting the behavior of Democrats has been over the third coronavirus bill has been are not fit for a family audience. Take every four-letter word you can imagine, square it, and create a few new ones and you’ll be close to describing people who see one Republican Senator diagnosed with coronavirus and 4 others in self-quarantine because of possible exposure as “leverage.”

The shame that Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Murphy, and all the rest should feel (but don’t) must never be forgotten, and they should never be allowed to hide from it. Saving the economy of the United States from collapse is not the venue to insist on “Green” agenda items and payoffs to unions. Yet these piles of human garbage are counting on a few things they know will give them cover in order to play this game of Russian Roulette…with the gun to the heads of Americans.

First, it will soon be forgotten. Sad as it is to say, many people won’t remember what Democrats did this weekend. The sign of relief at the end of this will wipe clean a lot of memories of people who didn’t pay attention much before. There will also be new outrages, mostly manufactured, to distract attention. Elections are generally about the future – what people promise to do, not a reward or punishment for what they’ve done. Hopefully, this time will be different.

Second, they have accomplices in the media willing to lie for them. Since most people simply consume news the way an ant consumes a discarded candy bar, they have no idea they’re being lied to or only told part of the story. That a Rachel Maddow or Margaret Sullivan are demanding networks stop carrying President Trump’s daily Coronavirus Task Force’s briefings won’t register will the public because most of the public has no idea who those people are. And if the briefings disappear, the assumption will be they’ve stopped. They won’t know how progressive activists with press credentials pressured them to aid the Democratic Party, killing the dissemination of information because it made the President look too good, too in command.

Third, the damage done to the economy will be blamed on the President. With millions of jobs hanging in the balance, Democrats are looking at numbers, future numbers, not people or lives ruined. If a million people come out of this not only without a job, but without companies able to employ them, it’s a win for Democrats. That’s the trick Democrats are trying to pull by blocking money for businesses – make people whole with checks to individuals, but leave their companies on the hook. What good is it to help people pay their obligations if, at the end of this, their jobs no longer exist because their employer went under? Democrats don’t care; these people will be dependent on government, and that helps the left. It’s sick, really.

It’s much easier to play Russian Roulette when the gun is pressed up against someone else’s temple.

You’d think there would be a revolt, that enough Democrats, or at least some, would stand up to Pelosi and Schumer. You’d be wrong. They are in unison; they are one – a hive mind.

Even Joe Biden, after a week in hiding, has reemerged to play Monday morning quarterback, announcing a “daily briefing” to second-guess everything the government is doing. He’s play-acting President like a 5-year-old would, with roughly the same ability to read a teleprompter and same level of understanding. The same people – media and surrogates – who lambasted Mitt Romney in 2012 for commenting on the Benghazi attack before Barack Obama, who took his sweet time, bothered to, will cheer each robotic installment of puppet Biden reading staff-prepared remarks from his home. “We only have one President at a time” will turn into “Joe is so presidential!” because they are truly bad people.

Democrats telegraphed this sucker punch when, last week, Democratic House Majority Whip James Clyburn (SC) privately told his members that the third coronavirus bill was “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.” Agenda Über Alles (written in German because it’s appropriate).

When presented with a choice to help the American people, Democrats prioritized THEIR people over all people, their agenda over the good of nation; they drew a line in the sand to give money to their donors, to push unrelated agenda items that will excite their base, and tell everyone else they can go to hell. No, they can. They deserve to, because they are truly bad people.

I have noticed, that lefties bring the climate issue up in the Corona crisis. But this action of the demonrats is really over the top. Now they sacrifice the life of their older relatives in order to fight airplane emissions. The demonrats ended up like the Baal cult in Kanaan. Hope so this will open the eyes of some people more.

Demonrat brainwashing Nazi propaganda rag the New Reich Times is trying to blame Republicans for their decision to murder old people. These people clearly are pure evil and should be opposed in every way conceivable with all tools at everyone's disposal. America is suicidal if it ever forgives them or believes a word from them.

FACT CHECK: New York Times Falsely Claims Republicans Blocked Passage of Coronavirus Relief Disproven by Own Headline
Mon Mar 23, 2020 Daniel Greenfield
15

After Senate Republicans and Democrats had successfully negotiated a coronavirus relief bill, objections by Rep. Clyburn, a top Biden ally, and Speaker Pelosi, led Democrats to vote down their own bill on a party line vote.

The New York Times correctly headlined the story, “Democrats Block Action on $1.8 Trillion Stimulus" before later changing the headline to, "“Partisan Divide Threatens Deal On Rescue Bill."

Since this was insufficient, its editorial board decided to roll out, "The Coronavirus Bailout Stalled.  And It's Mitch McConnell's Fault.  —  Senate Republicans are blocking passage of an economic bailout plan that protects jobs and wages."

The Times' own headline demonstrates that this claim is blatantly false. On the most basic level, Republicans did not block passage of the plan, Democrats did.

The Washington Post, for example, still has the correct headline up. "Democrats again block key vote on $2 trillion coronavirus bill."

Or Politico. "Coronavirus rescue package stalls after Democrats defeat key vote".

This is a simple matter of fact.

The New York Times is pushing a blatantly false narrative in order to shift responsibility from its political allies. This is the essence of fake news.

Crenshaw held an interview at a Texas restaurant that is going to go bankrupt without the stimulus. There will be millions of unemployed Americans in a week if it doesn't pass. I am the furthest thing from a socialist, but we have an example in Torah of disaster relief, it is a very legitimate action for the government to take. Giving people their tax dollars back to them is actually great. I'd be happy if every year the American government gave back a trillion in tax revenue to the people.

Also, they're not actually opposing spending. They just want it to be 10 trillion instead of 1, and also take away everyone's rights and free all the criminals. If they said well we don't have the money, that's a legitimate argument. They're saying we need to give billions to unions and all their power groups.

Coronavirus Relief Bill Bans Businesses from Opposing Unions
Wed Mar 25, 2020 Daniel Greenfield
1

The Democrats are evil.

Hijacking coronavirus relief to fund the NEA, the Kennedy, Center, and push ballot harvesting and nationwide rigged elections is evil. But they're set to get plenty of the money and look at all the angles they're working.

From Phil Kerpen, "Here's a gem for the union bosses on page 524. If a medium size business (500 to 10,000 employees) takes the Treasury loan, they can't oppose any union organizing effort."

Or rather, have to "remain neutral".

It's evil and yet brilliant. The Democrats responded to coronavirus relief by building a ton of Trojan horses into it. This is merely one of them. The goal of all of these things is to put money in their pockets and power into their organizations.

And Republicans are going to let them get away with it.

And now we've caved to them. They wouldn't accept 1 trillion, wanted 10, so we made a deal for 2 and they seem to be going with it. A bunch of the money goes to their power groups and contains all kinds of leftist stipulations. Do not be glad that there are democrats, when exactly have they opposed anything for a reason that benefits America?

‘At Last We Have a Deal’: Senate and White House Agree on $2 Trillion Stimulus Plan
By Mairead McArdle

March 25, 2020 8:15 AM

Senate leaders and the Trump administration reached a deal in the early hours of Wednesday morning on a $2 trillion emergency stimulus package to blunt the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to spread across the country and has tipped the economy towards recession.

“At last we have a deal,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said from the Senate floor after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. “After days of intense discussion, the Senate has reached a bipartisan agreement on a historic relief package for this pandemic. … I’m thrilled that we’re finally going to deliver for the country that has been waiting for us to step up.”

“This bill is far from perfect, but we believe the legislation has been improved significantly to warrant its quick consideration and passage,” Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said, calling the legislation “the largest rescue package in American history.”

The bill provides $367 billion for small business loans, $100 billion for hospitals, and $150 billion for state and local governments. It also stipulates that Americans who make up to $75,000 will receive a one-time payment of $1,200.

Senate Democrats had pushed for more accountability regarding the bill’s $500 billion fund earmarked for corporations that have been hit hard by the coronavirus. Thanks to those objections, the fund will be overseen by an inspector general and a congressional panel.

The economic relief package is now expected to move swiftly through both chambers of Congress and be signed by President Trump before the end of the week.

The massive emergency stimulus package came after five days of intense negotiations where Republicans and Democrats lost patience with each other for using the bill as an opportunity achieve long-standing ideological legislative goals unrelated to the economic fallout brought on by coronavirus.
11

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who negotiated with Senate leaders on the bill, said Trump would “absolutely” sign the Senate bill as it reads now and urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pass it in the House without alteration.

“This is a very important bipartisan legislation that is going to be very important to help American workers, American business,” Mnuchin said. “We couldn’t be more pleased. Spoken to the president many times today, he’s very pleased with this legislation and the impact this is going to have.”

I'm glad someone did.

For instance, Amash's principled opposition to this bill is debatable, doesn't really help to give people a $500 check and they don't have a job when this is over, but I am perfectly fine even if he delays the bill debating on how to best do it, not using it as a way to rob America as the demonrats are doing. He's someone I'm usually glad for, he wants to do his job well, not be a corrupt lying thief like the demonratic party.

Rep. Amash Signals He May Single-Handedly Delay Coronavirus Relief Bill
By Mairead McArdle

March 25, 2020 9:45 AM

Representative Justin Amash (R, Mich.) arrives for a House Oversight Committee Hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., May 22, 2019. (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)

Update: Amash said later in the day Wednesday that he would not block a request for unanimous consent if both parties support the coronavirus stimulus bill but urged Congress to “reconsider what it’s doing.”

“If they have majorities to pass it, then objecting to unanimous consent merely delays the inevitable. I won’t do that,” Amash wrote in a tweet. But members MUST BE REQUIRED to go on the record with how they would have voted.”

Representative Justin Amash signaled Wednesday that he may delay the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus package Senate leaders reached with the Trump administration hours earlier, calling the plan “a raw deal for the people.”

The Michigan independent, who left the Republican Party last year, suggested he may block unanimous consent should the House choose to use it for the coronavirus package, forcing a roll call vote on the emergency funding bill that would require lawmakers to return to Washington. Such a move would delay consideration in the lower chamber of the package, which was agreed to after five days of marathon negotiations between Senate leaders and the Trump administration.

“This bipartisan deal is a raw deal for the people,” Amash wrote in a Wednesday morning tweet. “It does far too little for those who need the most help, while providing hundreds of billions in corporate welfare, massively growing government, inhibiting economic adaptation, and widening the gap between the rich and the poor.”

The bill, the third coronavirus stimulus package passed by Congress, provides $367 billion in loans to help small businesses hit hard by the outbreak to keep making payroll, $100 billion for hospitals, and $150 billion for state and local governments. The plan also provides for Americans who make up to $75,000 to receive a one-time payment of $1,200. A $500 billion fund earmarked for corporations that have been economically damaged by the pandemic will be overseen by an inspector general and a congressional panel in accordance with Democrats’ demands.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who negotiated the funding package with senators, urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pass the Senate version of the funding package without changing it, adding that President Trump would “absolutely” sign it as is.

“House Democrats will now review the final provisions and legislative text of the agreement to determine a course of action,” Pelosi said Wednesday in a statement.
23

Rather than providing a large fund for corporations, Amash supports giving $1,250 to each American adult and $500 to each child every month for the next three months, unless the lockdowns end sooner, at which point Congress can renew, modify, or discontinue the payments as it sees fit.

Amash’s office did not respond immediately to request for comment.
