Bats have special adaptations for flight that have apparently made them more likely to carry deadly diseases.

They are also very important to the ecological health of the world and make up 1/5 of all mammal species.

I wish people wouldn't eat them for both reasons.

I don't like much liver honestly. It's OK to smush it on the side of the pita with hummus and it makes like a sauce, but just like that isn't my cup of tea. It's also OK fried with mushrooms and pieces of beef and those Chinese veggies in a stir fry with sesame oil. Pickled herring if you have a legitimate Moroccan crew on it and they spice it right, it's perfect, the old style with a billion onions and an overwhelming vinegar taste is gross too. I pack it sometimes if I want to run around a mountain for two days, just to repeat a scientific test that any food you eat after not eating for 48 hours tastes freeking good.

My mouth is different than yours.  :::D

I like the chopped liver and the herring without spices and of cause the herring with onions. But the spiced kind becomes more and more popular. They have it now in all variants. If I go to the fish shop there are - not an exaggreation - more than 20 kind of pickled herring. Spicy Hot, Oriental, with apples and cream, with oranges etc.

The best is the pure fermented "Dutch Primeur". It iust a filet except for the tail fin. You hold it there, dip it in the onions and then down with it. Boiled potatoes or black bread with a little bit butter go fine with it.

Don't get me wrong, I eat everything, but for shabbos dinner I prefer not that.

Humans share 99% of genes with rats.

It's a good thing I stopped eating long-pig.

FYI
I eat mostly plants and fish.
I never touch raw meat without gloves.  No viruses.

So, yes, you can eat bats, rats, roaches, pigs, and longpigs WHEN PROPERLY COOKED!
And I don't eat any of those except an occasional delicious pig.
