(Film) Dara from Jasenovac - the Sebian nomination for Oscar
« on: December 07, 2020, 10:45:42 AM »
"The film is set in the Nazi-occupied Croatian Ustasha regime "NDH" in former Yugoslavia during WWII. The film is told through the experiences of a little girl named Dara who is sent as a child during the Holocaust in the balkans to the infamous extermination camp complex Jasenovac, also known as "Balkan's Auschwitz", when it was ruled by sadistic camp commander Maks Luburic until the liberation. The film is the first modern WWII movie that takes place in or shows this NDH era camp"

Anti-Serbian loby (Croats, Bosnians) won. Dara of Jasenovac will not be a nominee for Oscar. But some Bosnian Srebrenica fary tale will.

Oh yeah not how the oscars work. Or the Pullitzer or any American prize. It's not the top people in film and books that give the prizes, it's politically motivated, usually nobodies that give the award to whatever leftist will get them the most profit. Honestly when I saw the title originally that said it would be an oscar, I was worried they turned the holocaust into a leftist propaganda film. The fact that it didn't win Oscar is a testament that the movie deals in reality, and isn't a tool to encourage communism.

The TV premiere was a few days ago. I have seen the film.

The film is good, no question about it.

The thing is, what was shown in the film is pratcitally a censored version of what actually was happening. The film shows the killings. But only shows quick killings. Those people where the lucky ones. What film does not show is the horrible ways of slow killings and torture technics that where only used by the Ustaše.

According to Israeli Holocaust historian Gideon Greif, Ustaše had 57 different methods of humiliation, torture and killings of Serbs, Jews and Gypsies. After 4 years of research, the chief resercher of the Shem Olam institute - Gideon Grien, found that at leat 800.000 Serbs and 40.000 Jews where killed in the most horrible ways by the Ustaše, just in Jasenovac death camp (6 times bigger than the Auschwitz).

Like vikings shows opens the opportunity for crappy ones and more accurate ones, you can make one that shows the truth of the matter. It would make Saw look like Bambi though.
