B"H. Dear friends: I've noticed a few posts recently of YouTube videos from the Noahide World Center (NWC) / Brit Olam organization, which were posted without being sent to the Admin for review. So first, I just wanted to send a reminder about our Group Rule #1.

Also, I'm now obligated to inform our members about the position of NWC / Brit Olam on an important issue for Noahides, regarding observance of the Jewish commandments. The following statements are taken from currently available pages on their web site.

(1) https://noahideworldcenter.org/.../the-bnei-noah-problem.../

Scroll down to point #14, which says the following:

"14. According to Judaism, are the Bnei Noah allowed to observe the Sabbath, celebrate the Jewish holidays, do circumcision?

We have already said that there are different approaches to the Bnei Noah among the rabbis. Those who think that the Seven Commandments is the maximum for the Bnei Noah do not speak of studying the Tora, nor of observing the Sabbath, nor the holidays, nor the circumcision. However from the Brit Olam and Rav Sherki point of view, those who undertake observing the Seven commandments of the Bnei Noah can further advance to observing all the Commandments: get circumcised, study the Tora (and Jews must help them in that), celebrate the Sabbath and the Jewish holidays etc. They, however, do not have to – they may do or they may not, as they wish."

Translation from the French text of this interview:

------Quote---------

Question:

First I want to thank Rav Cherky for the answers that are so important to our future.
I'm going to ask, so now, what we cannot do and what we can do on Shabbat because, if I understand correctly, if we want to do a mitzvah, we have to do it in detail ... I am wrong?

Reply:

You have, in this regard, different schools, alas. Like many problems in Jewish law, halacha, some things have not been resolved. You know very well that our position in the World Noachide Center is that, from the moment they [Noahides have] officially accepted the seven Noachide commandments before a court, that is to say before 3 rabbis, they can also adopt Shabbat observance.

Some people formally oppose it. And, from this divergence, come two other divergences: for those who forbid to do Shabbat, it would be right for a non-Jew to perform Shabbat not in the manner of the Jews, while for those who admit that they can do Shabbat - which is our position - you can do it in the Jewish way.

------End quote-------

[Note: For explanation and sources regarding the majority halachic opinion that Bnei Noach should not take on observance of the Torah's ritualistic commandments for Jews, please see The Divine Code, Part I, Chapter 3: "The Prohibition Against Making a New Religion or Adding a Commandment".]
Gentiles are obligated to fulfill the Seven Noahide Commandments because they are the eternal command of God, transmitted through Moses our teacher in the Torah. The main and best book on details of Noahide observance is "The Divine Code" by Rabbi Moshe Weiner.

Gentiles are NOT ALLOWED to add to their 7 commandments according to Maimonides, Laws of Kings 10:9, the Divine Code by Rabbi Moshe Weiner, Part I, Chapter 3 and Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, Igrot Moshe Yoreh De'ah vol. 2, ch. 7.

Why do idiots like the Noahide World Center keep interfering in the Noahide movement?

We basically need more Jews studying exactly what the position of the non-Jew is. For instance you had the Samarians who would do half mitzvot, and that was a problem, but they could have apparently done it in a way. Out of 99 Jews that can tell you lots about Judaism, 1 knows about the Noachide.

The Divine Code is a consensus of the Chief Rabbis in Israel and America who agree this is the correct interpretation of the Law. There are Jewish scholars who are expert in the Torah Law for Gentiles, but there are also many rabbis who are misleading Noahides.

Rabbis yes, but there are Rabbis who are expert in many topics and everyone knows the basics. Here the average Jew knows next to nothing, it's a situation. I learned from a long lecture that gave proofs back and forth and eventually landed on Gaza is the land of Israel but it's not under our control because we don't study why it's the land of Israel enough, and if there's a comparable effect here, maybe that leads automatically to distortions in teaching about gentiles. I'm sure those Rabbis are great, but in everything we like to get a bunch of opinions even just to see deeper. Here there's one group saying the official line, and everyone that pops up immediately seems to get discredited. There's clearly not enough Jewish interest in the issue as a whole, and since it's interesting, owing entirely to lack of familiarity with the topic. A Rabbi can't say he doesn't know for a ton of matters, when it comes to where the non-Jew who wishes to serve Hashem as he is stands, it is perfectly acceptable for a Rabbi to brush over the topic or just say he's not the expert there and direct you to one who is. The information needs to not be "read this big book", we need to get it down to a 13 principles of faith type compressed format where we can get across what a Noachide is efficiently. Then you can have lots of opinions on every topic like Jews do and it's nice.

A Noahide is a Gentile who recognizes the Divinity of the Torah and observes its prohibitions of (1) idolatry, (2) blasphemy, (3) homicide, (4) forbidden relations, (5) robbery, (6) eating meat that was taken from a still-living animal (cruelty to animals), and the requirement (7) for societies to establish courts of justice. A Gentile who observes Jewish commandments is a member of a cult created by Jews who should know better but don't. You can have lots of opinions as long as the actual Torah Law is clearly stated. Presenting minority opinions as the practical law is not nice. It's heretical.
