Binyamin Yisrael:
1. Are black abolitionists like Douglass and Tubman bad? Are white abolitionists bad?
2. Did you know before reading this that the official name of the federal holiday in February is called Washington's Birthday, and not Presidents' Day?
I remember you said only MLK gets his own day but George Washington and Christoper Columbus also do.
People think the February holiday combined the birthdays of Lincoln and Washington which is not true. Washington's Birthday was celebrated on February 22 from 1879 until 1971. It was only the Uniform Monday Holiday Act that moved it from February 22 to the third Monday in February (between the 15th and the 21st), not because of combining the two birthdays. Some states call it Presidents' Day (though the placement of the apostrophe, if any, varies) and is most often an occasion to remember all U.S. presidents, or to honor Abraham Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays together. Lincoln's Birthday was never a federal holiday.
Many blacks celebrated both Lincoln's and Douglass's brithdays in February which then led to Negro History Week which then became Black History Month. UMM HMM!
Where were you travelling to when you experienced the affirmative action story at JFK that you told two weeks ago?
ItalianZionist:
Hi Chaim. Did you ever watch the TV miniseries Masada with peter Strauss and peter o'toole. In the movie the leader of the Jews was portrayed to be nonreligious. He said he would throw the rabbis off the mountain " and their scrolls after them." if they did not work and fight. Was this an accurate portrayal of the leader? Was the movie accurate? Did you agree with what the group did at the end...the mass suicide?
Hrvatski Noahid:
The importance of Rambam as a primary authority in the precepts of the Jewish people is well known. In the words of Rabbi Yosef Karo: "For he (Rambam) is the most famous Torah-law authority in the world."
Why, then, did rabbis make new codifications of Jewish commandments after Maimonides?

Dr. Dan:
Shalom Chaim. Long time no see. I have been busy.
I’m currently reading a book by Ambassador David Friedman’s experiences and what not. In a part of the book he recalls his father being involved in protests and civil disobedience to the Soviet mission to free Jews. Do you ever recall seeing or meeting him? Your thoughts on this.
Thank you and God bless you and your family.
