Also, remember that the reason why blacks can't build up their economies is not because of their cultures. The average African has the IQ of 70 and it is theorized that it's not even possible for people of that IQ to advance past the hunter-gatherer stage... at least not anytime soon. An IQ of 90 is what is believed to be required to establish a technological economy. We need to stop being held under the illusion that everyone can prosper and develop and build marvelous things if just given the opportunity. We need to start accepting that there are some people who are simply incapable of developing past a certain stage. I imagine the results would be the same if we took millions of our semi-retarded people and told them to go build a civilization.
Keep in mind that it is considered mentally retarded to have an IQ of 70 in intelligent societies and that the sort of retardation carries with it severe dysfunctional social behavior and noticable intellectual deficiencies. Sound like anyone you know?

Instead I get the bad luck of being the ONLY black here (on opposition), then upon my arrival (EVEN BEFORE I GOT HERE) I was called all sorts of names. So its NOT that I don't like you all...its just that my presence isn't as welcomed as I thought it would be. So its YOUR issue. I just wanted some grown-up debating...this is something I'm not getting.

How could you ask me such a question? Slavery wasn't something blacks in Africa asked for to be taken away from whatever was going on in Africa back then. It was a terrible, terrible thing. IT took 400+ years for any rights to be given to black people even after they were free.

If Africans knew then what they know now, surely they (and I ) would have liked to be taken out of the situation away from AIDS, starvation and other bad happenings in Africa. Slavery was not better though. I was simply asking you an honest question, to point out that I believe that most blacks are appreciative of the fact that their ancestors "paid the price" and sacrificed themselves in such a way that enabled their ancestors to have far better lives than they would have had in Africa. Isn't that noble to pay respect to your ancestors who sacrificed themselves so that you could live in the United States rather than dying in an AIDs infested G-d-forsaken hellhole?
I was asking an honest question to see how you would respond, how is that evil? I want to hear your opinion on this because I've never asked a black person this question.
If it were up to you, would you have allowed slavery to happen for the benefit of all the black Africans of today? Or would you have rather want that slavery would have never occurred and then all (or at least almost all) of the blacks would have stayed in Africa and suffered the fate that so many Africans do.
I know it might be a hard question to ask and that it is taboo to ask a black person this and to have her admit that he thinks slavery should have happened, but it's a legitimate question, and it is in no way evil.

What's so evil and sad about what you said is that you implied that slaves asked for what they got, and if it wasn't for the white man giving them freedom, I'd be just another African with AIDS. I don't owe the slave masters a thing, but I do owe my ancestors who did what they had to do to survive and not get killed (because I'm here) a debt of gratitude because they could've killed themselves from all of the pressure they were under.
If the Africa of yesterday had the Africa of today's problems, I'd just assume jump off of a cliff onto jagged rocks than become a slave to people who'd chain me up like an animal. If I were caught while trying to commit suicide, I guess I'd have no choice but to do 'massah's bidding'.

Look, the situation you described isn't much different than in Africa. Millions of African people are displaced from their homes, raped, genocided, murdered with machetes, take part in bloody civil wars. They still sew their wive's vaginas together there. They rape virgins because they think it will cure them of AIDs. There are so many unspeakable horrors that happen in Africa that I couldn't even begin to address them all.
If I had my choice, I would rather be a slave who was fed and who worked in America and was taken care of by his master than be in Africa where I would probably die by the age of 35 of a horrible disease, or be killed in a civil war after witnessing my wives and daughters raped in front of me.
So, if it were up to you, you would rather have had it happen the same way so that you and your ancestors would have avoided all the horrible things in Africa. Well I don't blame you. I think that's a smart answer.
I'm not saying you should be on your knees thanking the slaveowners, but I think a little bit of gratitude and a little bit of appreciation would be the humble thing to do, especially in the spirit of recognition for the great sacrifices that black people's ancestors undertook. It seems like an obvious thing for blacks to think, but I never hear this sentiment anywhere. No appreciation for anything, blacks just want more and more and more without appreciating anything that they've been given.
If slavery ended up being such a preferable thing, and it was a better alternative than staying in Africa, why do so many black Americans complain about slavery, and do you think they should just get over it and accept that they would have been worse off if they had been in Africa?

I have no gratitude for the white man of yesteryear's involvement in the slave trade. None. I owe him nothing. Who I owe are my ancestors who didn't do what I would have done because it takes strong people not to give up in the face of that much adversity. Sure, the alternative route, staying in Africa if AIDS even existed then (and it didn't) would have been just as terrible. So neither experience would look to me to be more appealing than the other. Sorry. I'm not happy that slavery existed, I'm not proud that we were taken away from Africa the way we were, in chains and cages...separated from our families. I'm really emotional about this because I have a family. A husband and children of my own who I'd die without.

So many blacks complain about slavery because it was horrible. The history is horrible. The trading was horrible. The beatings were horrible, and it was all because someone needed their plantations ho'ed, cultivated, seeded and watered. Some people, like me a few seconds ago, cry at the thought of something like that happening to them and their kids. We go back in our minds of what that might have been like and we break down. This is what makes me appreciate my freedom, and trust me, the white man had nothing to do with this feeling. I'm SO happy that I was born a free thinking human being who ended up ultimately having the best that life could offer me despite the fact that I went through some things in my own past. I woudn't choose being raped, beaten and molested over slavery, of course...but I'm glad that I'm not a slave. It would have been a lot worse.

The main thing I wanted to know is whether you would rather have had things happen the way they did with you living in the U.S. now or whether you would prefer that slavery never happened and blacks never left Africa and would have dealt with the attending consequences of staying there. I could have sworn that you gave me the response that you wouldn't have wanted to stay in Africa but I think you edited that and put in the suicide thing to save your "pride" even though that avoids the question. I would have attempted suicide, surely..I have a feeling though that I would've gotten caught and taken anyway. I'm not thankful for slavery to have started, I'm thankful for it to be over. There was nothing to be gained from enslaving millions of Blacks throughout the world..just like nothing was gained from slavery at all. Well nothing that benefitted blacks. Any black who says that they LOVED that the slave trade happened hates themselves.
There are blacks who are thankful for what they have. I know I'm one of those blacks who are happy for what I've got, and what I don't have. I'm glad I'm in good health, and that my family and friends are healthy as well. I grateful for what I don't have also; not living in slavery and not having my life threatened every waking moment of the day.
I think that blacks who aren't up on being thankful for much should use our ancestors as templates on how their lives should go. Just because you're poor, doesn't mean you don't have the power to postitively change things... You COULD be a slave with no rights. Just because you don't speak proper English, dosen't mean you can't learn... YOU COULD be a slave without the right to read...

Well lets take a look at Africa. It's a mess.
South Africa and Rhodesia were the most successful countries in Africa at one time, Rhodesia was known as the bread basket of Africa. The whites living there turned that place into a paradise and grew crops and had enough food to feed everyone. Rhodesia no longer exists and is now known as Zimbabwe after the British gave control of the land to the blacks. What happened then was a complete downfall, whites left the area in huge numbers because they were being attacked and land confiscated. Crime rose, and all the crops and farms were destroyed. Now people are starving there.
South Africa the same thing is happening. They had a strong military, a good alliance with Israel for a while. Apparently it was a gun owners paradise as well, what happened? Apartheid fell and the ANC took control. Now the murder rates are higher than ever, AIDS is a huge problem there, the military isn't doing jack squat and apparently the economy has taken a downfall. Boers are also having their land confiscated. South Africa will become like Rhodesia in no time.
What is the deal that blacks cannot run a country? There is clearly something wrong that the blacks have their own country and do not use the resources the whites leave them, instead they destroy the farm land and the infrastructure and blame colonization for their own failings. This is not racism, this is the truth. It's happening in America today as well, in Washington DC, most of your criminals are black and we are suffering as a result. The government is enforcing gun control and restrictions against so called"hate speech" because they claim that will cure the problem with the crime and murder with blacks. They are just as barbaric as the ones over in Africa. It's a shame because I have black friends who do not act like this and want to pursue a higher education and what not, but why should we suffer the consequences because of them? The slavery blame game can only go on so long, we're not responsible for Africa failing to advance or the inner city gang violence by blacks.

That's what a lot of people who do humanitarian work there are doing, JB. They're educating the women about Birth Control, and teaching the men how to use condoms. Aids will be there until the last person is dead. The older people who have the disease probably only have 3 to 5 years to live as it is. Its a shame thought that the animals there who are too ignorant to understand that AIDS can't be cured, let alone be cured by having sex with a virgin ::) are still alive. No, the yawn is because black people get sleepy when there isn't really much going on. They're like animals like dogs and cats who can just fall asleep at an instant's notice, or babies if you will.

My ancestors didn't volunteer to be slaves, they were TAKEN. I don't owe them a debt of thanks or anything else. I DO thank my ancestors who made it possible for me not to be a slave now. People who faught so that the future blacks of America wouldn't have to toil, and go through other unnecessary things to be free in this country. Its a shame it took so long but I'm glad there were blacks who stood up for fairness.
