Title: Possible abortion ruling.
Post by: Joe Gutfeld on May 05, 2022, 05:32:47 PM
What do you guys think about the possible US supreme court ruling against Roe Vs. Wade?  I know that most of you here are against it, but what if your daughter was raped and ended up pregnant by him?  Would you have your daughter keep the baby or have it aborted?  If I had a daughter, I would have her abort the baby.  Your thoughts please.

NY allows murder.
It simply means, states rights.  Which is how it was meant to be by the founders.

Even if the mother has emotional justification for not wanting the pregnancy, for example, in cases of rape or incest, aborting the fetus is forbidden.

Is the OU justified in writing this?

Here is a common-sense legal solution to the whole thing:
In most cases, abortion is murder, and anyone who performs an abortion should be given the death penalty. This includes women who abort their own babies themselves, doctors who abort babies, etc.
If a person accidentally causes a woman to miscarry, they are not to be executed, but if it was on purpose they should be.  People should be allowed to kill someone who intends to strike a woman to kill her fetus, just like for defending any person in danger, if there is no other way to prevent it.
If anyone hires someone to perform an abortion, or aborts the fetus within 40 days of conception, or if the fetus is not expected to live past 30 days after birth, these people are not to be executed, but there should be other penalties imposed.
Rape, incest, and birth defects are not valid excuses for an abortion.
A woman whose life is in danger due to her pregnancy is permitted to have an abortion, unless the baby's head has already emerged. If both the fetus and the mother would die, it's permitted to abort the fetus.
Contraception is permitted.

These are the non-negotiables, but I'm willing to leave some things open to the will of the people, such as coat hanger control laws, tax breaks for vandalizing Planned Parenthood, hanging the leftist Justices in effigy on government property on the anniversary of Roe V Wade, etc.

Obviously some of the Leftists who promote abortion are abhorrent as usual. OTOH their are instances where a women is not only allowed but is supposed to get an abortion. For example if her life is in danger for sure. Then a gray area of rape (not sure) and probably yes if it's incest or she cheated on her husband ( any form of Mamzer).
Also if the baby has certain genetic diseases then depends on what kind but I'm inclined to believe it's better to abort in such a situation for Jews. Either way it's a decision for a competent Halachic authority to make.
