Title: What Ethnic group do you think is most similar to the Jewish people?
Post by: The Shadow on October 23, 2007, 09:00:58 PM: What other Ethnic group do you think gets along best with the Jews? I have friends from all races and ethnicities, but I think the Italians might have the edge. I think the Italians are more similar to the Jews than other Ethnic groups, in both physical characterisistics and family bonding. Although Newman sure relates well to the Jewish people, I don't think he's Italian though :). Sometimes I think he's Jewish

Now, if you consider Samaritans and Karaites as Gentiles, then these would be considered the most similar. I just consider them as a part of Israel.

Unfortunately Edomites and Ishmaelites, even if enemies, can have a similarity, since Rambam said they were bound to circumcision. But they have chosen evil!!!

When calling on a Jew or Greek in business, you need to load your price by 11.1% so you can reduce it by 10% and arive at the original price. The reason? I was taught early in my career....Jews and Greeks won't even talk to you 'til you've taken 10% off. ;)

Many people think I look Italian because of my dark hair and olive complexion. My skin is actually darker than many Italians. When it comes to the more religious, I think the Chasidic Orthodox and the Amish look very similar. I remember one amusing scene from the movie "Witness" where the Amish kid sees this guy who from the back looks Amish. But when the guy turns around, it turns out to be a Chasidic Jew. Also, in Weird Al Yankovich's "Amish Paradise", many of the Amish names that he uses also sound very Jewish.

I've seen your pic Dan, southern Italians can get as dark as you.

And many of the Amish use names from the Torah, more so than the Christian Bible.
