Iran has signed a deal with China to purchase 24 J-10 fighter jets between 2008 and 2010, Russian news agency Novosti reported. The jets were developed based on the technology of Israel's Lavi fighter jet, whose technology was sold to China against the wishes of the US.

NATO: We have no mandate to deal with Iran
Novosti stated that the J-10 has a range of 2,940 kilometers, bringing it within range of Israel. Iran's current MiG-29 jets have a range of 2,100 kilometers.
A Russian military expert, quoted by the agency, said that Iran plans to use the new aircraft as part of its defense of the Bushehr nuclear facility in the face of a possible attack.
The Israeli Lavi fighter jet was developed in the 1980s but the project was canceled following pressure from America, which feared that the new jet would compete with its F-16 in international markets. The US subsequently sold F-16s to Israel at reduced costs.
China began developing the J-10 in 2004 and currently has 89 aircraft in active service.
Novosti added that no response was given by the Prime Minister's office.

Chaim is right.
US military aid IS a disaster for Israeli industry.

Is russia also going to supply experienced pilots and mechanics?
Muslims arent the brightest bulbs in the box....they'll be lucky if they can round up enough of them to figure out how to switch on a blender let alone fly a state of the art fighter jet ;)

Israel sold the LAVI technology to China a while back, and it was a big mistake.

Our boys are going to have some fun shooting those J-10's out of the sky. 8)

First time I've ever heard of it is today, this article.
The J-10, brought to you by the people that paint children's toys with toxic lead, and make dog food out of poison.

Here you go.
The Chengdu J-10 (歼十, Jiān 10) is a multirole fighter aircraft designed and produced by the People's Republic of China's Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC) for the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). Known in the West as the "Vigorous Dragon",[2] the J-10 is designed to be equally useful in both the fighter and light bomber roles and is optimized for all-weather day/night missions.
The J-10 next-generation fighter program remained a top-secret classified project until 2006-12-29, in which the Xinhua News Agency officially disclosed its active duty status in the PLAAF.

Our boys will get the job done, but it won't be fun.
It is good to be confident, but we don't want to be arrogant or under-estimate the enemy.
This plane was based on an Israeli design, and although it is almost certainly not as good as the F-15, and the pilots not as good as the IAF's, this mission will not be a walk in the park.
Remember, our guys will be flying almost 1,000 miles heavily weighted down with bombs...the fuel constraints will lead to a circumstance where any prolonged dog-fight means our boys can not make it home without refueling.
History should teach us not to underestimate the operational capabilities of our enemy or their equipment. Lebanon is a recent example. MiG jets in the Korean war is another.
Also, do not forget once Israel attacks Iran, there is an excellent chance that Israel will be hit with a retaliatory barrage of missiles.
Do not delude yourself, taking out Iran's nuclear capability is accomplishable but it won't be easy and it will not come without cost.
But what must be done, must be done. And the sooner it's done, the better.

I guess Israel figured someone is going to sell China fighter plane technology, might as well sell it to them ourselves. I guess in the end, everything comes back to bite you. I wouldn't underestimate Chinese weaponry, the Arabs sunk an Israeli hi tech naval boat with a Chinese Silk Worm missle during the second Lebanon War which Israel lost.

It was actually a Yingji-82 (鹰击-82) missile and has no relation with the Silkworm (HJ-2).

I meant America, not Israel. 8;)
Israel can join in if they'd like. O0
