When did the Croats hit upon the idea of denying their Slavic roots, and why did they do so at that time?

It began when they were
under magyar (hun) hungar yoke,
thus, for centuries...
They thought they could be more respected,
if they could convince their HUNNIC Master,
that they were "huns" themselves.
Not directly "huns", but "avars",
and they played with the letters
"r", "v" and "a" of their shameful "name" "hrvat" ("croat"),
with the "a", "v" and "r" letters of the avars, a mongoloid tribe,
like the hunnic one...
So, the: "we're avar, thus mongoloids, thus non-Slavs,
as you (magyars) previously thought",
was tried by the NAZICROATS.
Of course, it was unsuccessfull,
and the hunnic magyar hungarians
kept mastering upon the NAZICROATS on.
Later, they tried to convince the world
they were "Illyrians"...then, in Shitler-time,
they claimed to be "Goths" i.e. "germanics",
because it fitted very well, then, to be "germanic"...
WWII ended with the APPARENT defeat of NAZISM,
and it was no more good to call yourself a "Goth", then...
What happened ?
NAZICROATS claimed they were "Persians" !
How simple...You can even read them brag about it
in a NAZI IRANIAN PARTY WEBSITE.

I always assumed that they were Slavs, but I guess I was wrong. It seems they are proud of their Iranian Muslim Nazi origin. Perhaps they are mixes between Iranians and Slavs or just simply new Nazi Iranians?
