trick is not to put yourself in a position of vulnerability

trick is not to put yourself in a position of vulnerability
Easier said that done, I am way to trusting of people.
-
This reminds me of the scene in Airplane at the disco where that old man gets stabbed in the back and everyone thinks he is an excellent dancer.
-
no one has ever stuck a knife in my back...
but yes, I have felt in the past that I have been figuratively stabbed in the back...The thing is, i don't remember who or what or when...I know i have moved on wtih my life and who knows what's going on with their's.
-
I believe allow people one free pass, and once they use it, thats it, hell can freeze over and the world can end and I will never once allow them that chance again.
I am a little stubborn :P
-
Yes. So now I trust nobody.
-
NEVER EVER trust a black! No matter how good they appear...NEVER!!!!
Don't believe me, your problem, you'll get one in the back quite soon then, literally!
-
Yeah a number of people stabbed me in the back
My best friend when I moved down here, he was there for me when my father passed away, I bought him a car because he was poor, the conditions were that he would at least help us move into our new house or just pay a small percentage of the cost back over time. He never paid a dime, never helped us move, just flat out ignored me and that was that. Paid 20,000 dollars for that car too.
Another friend, a Puerto Rican I was friends with I played paintball with on a regular basis. I let him borrow my 1300 dollar paintball gun for a tournament, he was really busy (on vacation) and I didn't get ahold of him for about a month, I asked him about my gun and he said he left it at his friends and that he would get back to me. Come 3 months later he says his friend stole it, well he says he will pay me back or get me another gun and call me back. Never get a call so I go to his house a week later, his moms there telling me to leave or she will call the police.
Bottom line is, DTA (Don't Trust Anyone).

Well that will wear off all on it's own if you get back-stabbed enough; And you'll learn that trust is to be earned. ;)

Many times. Though i cannot victimise myself to it, as i've stabbed people in the back before, not intentionally to hurt them, but it's happened. Sometimes you can twist yourself into a situation which ends up like that.

Jews must remember that they are not allowed to take revenge on other Jews.

Jews must remember that they are not allowed to take revenge on other Jews.
So an eye for an eye, doesn't count on fellow Jews?

Well, that's largely allegorical, but yes - it is a Mitzvah D'oraisa (from the Torah directly) not to take revenge on a fellow Jew.

Does in my book, regardless of belief, if a person betrays you, then they are fair game.

But that's not how it works in Hashem's book...

of course not, but there are ways of getting "revenge", just it has to be taken to the Beit din

I've been knifed in the back by a few "Rabbis".

Ok, so then take it to a Beis Din, but I'm saying don't just take revenge on someone that did something to you because you feel it's justified.

My father (who is now deceased) was stabbed in the back by his own family. My father and his father had a falling out and were not talking for a while, he removed my father from his will (my grandfather was extremely wealthy) and when he died, all of the brothers except my father were named on the will. That crushed my father, and the 3 brothers said they would split it up, they did nothing.
They were living their life style in large houses, they had full control of my grandfathers land and sold it off, etc. When my father died, at the funeral I didn't want to speak to any of them. They made all kinds of promises how they would help us get through any financial problems we were having, and didn't even bother to give us a phone call.
While it wasn't specifically stabbing me in the back, our own family stabbed my mother, father, brother and I in the back. I still don't talk to them to this day and as far as I'm concerned I really don't care what their up to these days. That's a major reason we moved as far away from my fathers family as possible.
