Title: Does anyone know if Mel Schacter from Grand Funk Is Jewish

Was curious, is the bass player Mel Schacter from Grand Funk Railroad Jewish?  Is the name Schacter a German-Jewish name.  He kinda looks Jewish.  Also, I read Mark Farner's autobiography, the lead singer of Grand Funk.  He said he had some Jewish blood in him, was his dad Jewish?  I'm certain the last name is Farner is German.  Check out the bass player in the video link below.

What's all this talk about people looking Jewish? I thought the majority of Jews agree that Judaism is not a race?
