Absolutely fantastic, Skippy.  Beautiful array of animals.  Some questions.  Do they all get along or do you have to keep some of them separated?  Do they like human or pet food?  Do you make sure they all get enough exercise by walking or playing outside?  Also for the dogs.  What kind is Ruby?  Is Atila a wired hair terrier similar to the Jack Russell?  Do you have a favorite dog or cat?  Are the animals fixed or are you expecting new additions?  Again, great pics. O0

LOL Ari you must come to visit me one day  :::D :::D

Ok answers to your questions,

They all get along great, and they all live together.

They like both human food and their own.

I walk my days for 2 hours a day.

Rudy is a a little terrier cross, only very small, no one knows what she is. Most of these animals are rescued.

Attila is a wired hair fox terrier.

All my animals are desexed.

And no I don't have a favourite they are all dear and special to me.

I have 2 cockatiels (birds), they drive me nuts.

I'd like a dog, something like a rottweiler or something.

Wish I did, Skippy.  Maybe someday.  You never know. O0  By the way, of all your dogs, which have the best temperment or are easiest to take care of.  Are those wire haired terriers similar to Jack Russell's?  Very independent and full of energy?
Title: Re: Skippy's Animals!
Post by: Tina Greco - Melbourne on February 12, 2008, 12:32:18 AM
Good luck with the Rich idea Ari, I had more money than I could never spend at one time. Its not all what it is cracked up to be. You need enough to be comfortable and happy  ;)

My dogs have all different temperaments from passive to very aggressive. Some have shoot on sight orders via the Law Enforcement Officers, others or children hospital dogs.

They are a mix and they pack works because I am pack leader.

The Wired Haired fox terriers Attila and Snowy are working dogs and hunters, they work 5 days a week ratting and rabbiting.

But Pip my Gordon Setter is full on 24 hours a day 7 days a week. He is called Crazy Horse  :::D

Yes Skippy.  Money isn't everything.  Health is definitely much more important, with money a close second (lol, just kidding).  Yes  I know the terriers are known as working dogs.  So your two aren't retired yet?  We used to have some therapy dogs when I worked/volunteered in a nursing home.  The patients really liked them.  I also forgot to ask you which  of your dogs are famous.  I remember you mentioned that.  Have a good night and I'll keep you up to date on the dog show tomorrow.

Money is not everything but it helps  :::D :::D

No Attila is young only 5 years old, Snowy is a Grand old lady at 10 years old and still out run out hunt the young fellas  ^-^

Pip and Jack are my famous dogs.

Pip has been in the papers, and in government meetings. Very VIP lol, there is a man here, that is like the head of the Mafia, Pip dribbled down his suit  :::D :::D How to make friends and influence people.  :-\

But he was good about it thank G-d, and Pip played with the football stars instead. Its a hard life for me  ^-^

And Jack he is been on the National News TV station, on radio lol that was a funny day, in the paper, Expos, in Board rooms. Yes they all love him. And he knows it

Good night Ari.

Yeah Poms and all Spitz look very similar.
I thought my dog (Sweety) was a pomeranian when she was a puppy but then, as she grew older, I realized that I was wrong and she's a spitz. She's a little bigger than some pomeranians and her face is longer. I got a picture of her here:

They are all so beautiful!!!
I have only one 90lb german sheppard who thinks hes a lap dog :P  I dont have much backyard, its mostly pool and concrete so not much room to run for a dog, we talk him to the dog park for that.

You have quite the assortment......but what.....no crocodiles ;)

That's okay.  You know those wired haired terriers photograph like dolls.  By the way Skippy.  I'm thinking of surprising my parents with a dog.  Which kind do you think would be good for them?  I wouldn't call them elderly, but they're getting up there and I don't know how much energy they have.  My mother generally likes smaller dogs, like chihuahuas or pugs, but I don't know what would be the most practical choice given their temperments.  Maybe one that could be somewhat independent would be good.  Hope all is well.

Ari

It's not a good idea to surprise someone with an animal. Ask them if they want one. The animal will need care, which will take work, and vet visits, which can run into a lot of money.

You're basically saying "Here mom and dad, a gift that will cost you hundreds of dollars that I never even asked you about first! Enjoy! Oh, and it pees too!"

Yes, good point Rubystars.  I have asked them though and they think they would be able to handle it, but I'm the one with reservations.  That's why I would have to make sure that the breed is one I think they could put up with, one that wouldn't be too much of a terror.  Your dog is cute too by the way. Great, thanks Skippy.  Yes, I know my mom loves that Jack Russell terrier from Frasier (Eddie), but I read a little about the breed and they are supposed to be a little bundle of energy.  I'm not sure she would be able to keep up running with it, lol.  Those pics provide some good suggestions, and I'll follow up on them.  Oh yeah, one I saw in a pet store that seemed very small and cute was also a mini yorkie.  I think they also like pugs too. Chi's are the great little dogs in my opinion. Health wise pretty good, but can have knee and hip problems.

Honestly ALL dogs have health problems.

You must buy from a good breeder, have all the health checks. I can't stress enough on the importance of good health care for the dogs.

All dogs will get into mischief, its apart of the puppyhood.

I do have a favorite dog  :-[ :-[ :-[ I am so ashamed to say. I love all animals but these dogs you can't bet.

They are loyal, hardy, healthy, guard dogs and doers.

For my money you can't bet a Scotty or Aberdeen Terrer. They range from Black to White.

Something very wonderful happens twice a year on my porch, I am uploading the photo's  ^-^

As for naming my animals some come with names, others we name, yes every animals has a different personality, and different soul, that shines through. The Names fit the animals to a tee.

I never have any trouble telling them apart, I know each one, what noises they make, even whos pooh I am cleaning up.

Yes the glories of animal ownership Pooh duty  :::D :::D

Each of my animals have favorite toys, blankets, beds etc....

My cats are inside cats and my dogs are both inside and out.

Here it is a pair of wild doves makes a nest in my hanging basket, which contains wandering dew lol

She has done this for two years.

These are her babies, she is right by our front door and we talk to them all the time. :)

Yes she amazed us. Two years ago she comes and sets up house, right below her is were the dogs play, and the basket is at eye level. She so quiet and cute we never chased her away. It was so exciting we watched her raise her babies, and watching them learning to fly was a laugh. Then she came back again and again.

We never water the plant while she is there and we keep her little home safe. This year I even put up shade for her, the sun is very bitting this time of year.

Only takes her 3 weeks from laying eggs to her babies flying.

Yes, my mother's friend has a white dove she keeps at home.  It belonged to her son, who used to do magic tricks with it, but she got stuck with it when he left for college, lol.  My mom tells me she hears it cooing whenever she's over that lady's house.

I also feed the doves I see in my area every once in a while.  They're crazy about rye bread.  I used to have a lot more around here, but I think someone poisoned them.  Now we have mainly pigeons and starlings.  They're not quite as elegant. >:(

Nice baby Ginnies.  They're Gizmo colored.  Cute colored chicks too.  By the way, Skip, do you eat the chickens eventually, or just keep them as pets.  Don't give any animals to the Babalama campaign.  Those wired haired terriers make for great photos.  You should enter them in a dog competition. O0

Skippy, I used to have a little Yorkshire terrior- only his ears never stood up. LOL  His name was Bobby. (After the movie, 'Greyfrier's Bobby)

I also used to have a silver persian chinchilla  cat that looked like the one in the pic. Her name was Lisa..but she ended up being called 'Weezie' like Louise in 'The Jeffersons'. LOL
She was the most beautiful little thing.

I cried for weeks afterward. I still miss them.

Yes, they are always with you. Over the many years, and countless animals I have rescued and rehomed, many I also had to have put to sleep. They are forever in your memory, apart of your life, that can never be replaced. The short time you share is a gift.

G-d have given people the ability to remember fondly of our special moments, in a way nothing is really lost, only misplaced for a time.
