That article in Jerusalem Post unveils what happend in the UN human rights council before Ban Ki-moon gave his infamous statement on Geert Wilders film "Fitna":
Column One: Fear of democracy (http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?apage=2&cid=1207238156264&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull)
btw. here is the mail I sent to Ban Ki-moon via inquiries@un.org last saturday to call him to step back:
Dear Ban Ki-moon,
under
http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2008/sgsm11483.doc.htm (http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2008/sgsm11483.doc.htm)
I read you "condemn strongly" the airing of Geert Wilders’ movie "fitna". Thouh you also "appeal for calm to those understandably offended by it", but you must concede that this is a very halfhearted statement. Do you know that such an unbalanced statement will be perceived such that you make Geert Wilders responsible for any act of violence that may follow after the airing of this movie even(!) before such acts happen?
So instead of defending the freedom of speech and expression that was warranted "without frontiers" by Article 19 of the human rights declaraion in December 1948 you become the leader of false reversion of the guilt-principles and thus give anyone a free charter for acts of violence such as flag buring and even murdering!
I hope you know how far-reaching the implications are: Human rights article 29/1 says crystal clearly one has duties only to a "community" that grants the "free and full development" of ones personality and it was the co-author(!) of the human rights declaration Charles Malik who insisted in his "Talk on Human Rights"
http://www.udhr.org/history/talkon.htm (http://www.udhr.org/history/talkon.htm)
on this very crucial characteristics of human rights article 29/1 as a firewall against any future "excesses precisely of statism and socialism"!
For this reason I see it as my duty to tell you that
(a) the "free and full development" of ones personality undoubtedly covers also the freedom of speech and expression
(b) the term "community" though primarily refers to the state where one lifes, but also the United Nations is a community in the terms of this article this implies, that if you dont revoke or correct your above
statements any duty anyone might feel adverse to the United Nations will become invalid.
For that reason I plea you to withdrawal as Secretery-General as to prevent further damage to the reputation and authority of the United Nations.
Best Regards,
....

Read this from a talkback post on this article :'(
Excellent article:relevant for some Dutch jewish organisations too.
Because even mr. Naftaniel of the Dutch pro-Israel organisation CIDI has thought it wise to join the anti-Wilders pogrom and to encourage legal action against him. Probably for the reason Caroline suggested out of fear of being marginalized by supporting a "populist". This near unanimous pogrom against Wilders prevents any serious discussion about the real inconvenient truth of our time which is the message of hate and intolerance of islam.

Another very interesting comment from the talkbacks on this article :)
A monarchy whose decrees would supersede Knesset laws if approved by referendum is the answer.
The Knesset would continue to pass laws but could not supersede such approved decrees. One-man-one-vote democracy, for all its virtues, cannot deal effectively with Islam. Restriction of voting to Jews over 35 might work too. Europe needs baby farms.

Well they do adore a multicultural Europe, but they will be the first victims of the chaos that will break out.

Actually on this overall topic there is also Vote on freedom of expression marks the end of Universal Human Rights (http://www.iheu.org/node/3123). This is a report of an NGO delegate who attended the human rights council session march 28th in geneva. It explains in detail what happen and drives conclusions that go so far that he plays with the idea of founding an alternative human rights council. In canadian media coverage on this issue was relatively good. In german media there was just a single article, but I can proof it contains at least one bold lie.
Note, the NGO guy goes so far to say that human rights died. As a concept it might still have a meaning, but expecting something from UN is really naive at the latest since 28t march 2008.

Sadly, If Europe doesn't wake up soon it will become a dead entity. Same with Israel, it is all so darn depressing..... :'(

It is also interesting to read through IHEU "ambushed" at Human Rights Council (http://www.iheu.org/node/3115) that reports about an incident 13 March 2008 where Pakistan/Egypt deletages tried to stop Roy Brown (IHEU delegate) from making the statement that the 1990 Cairo Declaration of "Human Rights" in Islam is by no means compatible with the Universal Human Rights that were declared in 1948. The pakistan delegate said: "It is insulting for our faith to discuss Shari'a here in this forum!". The scene can be viewed on video here (http://www.iheu.org/node/3116).
