You need sunlight for vit. D.
-
Some sun 15 minutes a day might be fine and healthy buuuuuttt :)
-
I would say the tanning bed is more unhealthy because they give you more UVA rays.
-
I read somewhere that tanning BED is 10-15 times more harmfull then Sun tanning because of the reason Lisa just mentioned!
-
I never worried because im so dark but since my wife who is a light blond got sick I pay attention! Please trust me on this one It is not worth it and you young ones will regret it!

What kind of question is that? This is the Healthy Livins section, not the tanning section. Tanning is very un-healthy, especially artificial tanning.
It sense, sun light is also the energy of life. So with the right precaution it is healthy for you.

Your wife is in my prayers Wayne!

UV radiation from the sun and tanning bed are generally split into two wavelengths, UVA and UVB. UVA is the predominant one and the one associated mainly with tanning, and UVB is the one most associated with skin malignancies and sunburn. UVB is thought to have a greater role in cancer induction than UVA, however, both are associated with skin cancer.
Tanning beds generally claim to utilize UVA light giving the impression that they are safer than sitting in the sun. This is misleading for several reasons. For one, there are no regulations to assure what content of UV light tanning beds are emitting. Second, although probably less dangerous than UVB, UVA is not without it's potential for skin damage.
One should cover one's body with a high SPF product when expecting sun exposure. As far as Vitamin D production is concerned, some experts claim that 15 minutes per day of sun exposure is enough to stimulate a suitable amount of Vitamin D production.

I've been a member of Beach Bum for a few years now... I don't even notice any changes in my skin after the tan.
I go 1-2 a week for 8-10 min depending on which machine I use, I feel like it has an effect especially in the winter months. O0

I would be too scared to tan. We all know the dangers of skin exposure so it's best just to get in great physical shape if you want to look good.
