our use(the wests mostly) of oil is killing this planet, and we are spending oil in a realy dumb manner, there are 1000s better things to do with oil,and 1000 new more every day, with our inapropriet spending ways we have damaged this planet alot.
soz 4 my bas spelling
i'm not commenting on the way you are gaining oil,i'm talking about the way you are spending it,it won't have catastropical influence only on animals, but on the whole world, includeing us!
You will have peoplewho wont let us drill because they will say you are messing up the ecosystem and it will be bad for the animals like what they are doing in Alaska
You will have peoplewho wont let us drill because they will say you are messing up the ecosystem and it will be bad for the animals like what they are doing in Alaska
The animals in the Arab nations? :P
I think we should all end our dependence on oil even non-Muslim oil.Haha... I know... it was a joke lolYou will have peoplewho wont let us drill because they will say you are messing up the ecosystem and it will be bad for the animals like what they are doing in Alaska

I think he meant the animals in Alaska.
Re: "...Maybe we can finally stop buying oil from our enemies!
At least long enough for us to make oil-free technologies mainstream..."
We will not stop buying oil from our enemies, for the simple reason that our enemies are in fact a cartel consisting of seven major oil corporations; all of whom are now showing the greatest profits in all of recorded corporate world history.
And it is these corporations which will quite literally stop at nothing to maintain their profits.
They do not answer to any governments, other than making sure their sources of oil (Saudis, Nigeria, Iraq, etc...) are kept happy.
They will do whatever necessary to crush and eliminate any and all competitors; particularly those working to develop alternative energy sources.
Most of us have a great difficulty accepting the fact that it is already far too late (short of a miracle) for R&D to save us from oil addiction.
And because China and India are now demanding more each day to fuel their rapidly growing economies, the oil corporations could care less whether or not America runs dry and can't pay the exorbitant prices at the pumps.
All pharmaceutical drugs and products, all agro-chemicals & fertilizers, all of our containers, plastics, our military, our machinery, and our transportation (delivery of foods & goods), and more, are totally reliant on oil, and no substitutes or alternatives are so far known which can equal the amount of energy we derive from one gallon of oil.
Do any of you still believe that Bush invaded and occupied Iraq to topple a madman making WMD's?
We are there for one reason and one reason only: Oil reserves.
Not that we citizens are going to benefit.
Only Bush's Oil CEO's and their circle of friends and business relations are to grow richer; none of whom consider themselves Americans or American corporations.
I know it sounds like I'm just trying to "spoil everyone's party", but my intention is only to make those reading this aware of just how serious a crisis all of us are facing.

Your not spoiling the party your post gives plenty of food for thought. The big corporations have ulterior motives I am sure but I think that there is more at play here than just cornering the oil reserves. Bush, Baker and company have been in bed with the house of Faud for years. I am sure that Iraq has quite a bit to do with seeing that the Royal family stays in power.
How does Iraq keep the Royal Family stay in power?
Good point about coal SR. But the thing to do with coal is extract the fuels from it with the coke process. I know there is billions of tons of coal just in West Virginia alone. The biggest coalfields in there world reside there. There is one coke plant that I know of there. As for power plants, I say go nuclear because it will be cheaper in the long run. The pollutants are far less than coal plants. Have you ever been in West Virginia. The smoke from coal gets in and on everything. It's especially bad for people with asthma and may well have caused some people to contract asthma. I myself has asthma and I am origionally from West Virginia. I have problems breathing everytime I visit. Of course smoking doesn't help either, which I am guilty of. But getting back to the subject. The cost will be enormous in the beginning, but look at all the jobs that states like West Virginia will get back. The ones that migrated south to find work after Jimmy Carter signed the ban on sulpher coal will return. The economy there will flourish again. Now, it's just pretty much a starved economy run by corrupt Democrat/Communist politicians. I believe that this could possibly work and that it could be quite lucrative for the long-term investor. G-d bless AMERICA and ISRAEL!!!!!
