Where did Chaim learn his Hebrew? Kibbutz ulpan?
-
He's self-taught, amazing ain't it? He's said before that he wouldn't advise this method to anyone because it's so tough, but that's the way he learned.

He said, that he could understand Hebrew because of his family and started to learn to speak when rabbi Kahane preached how import Hebrew is for a Jew.

I think he talked about this in the 11.29.2006 broadcast.
But I'm not sure. If heard so many of his shows lately.

The quickest way to learn spoken Hebrew is to be stuck among Israelis who can't speak any English. I was stuck in a yeshivah for 3 months in a room with two Israeli baal teshuvahs who couldn't speak a word of English. I came out with a real "Israeli" accent and had all the right tshachtshach epithets & swear words down to perfection r"l!
Were any of Chaim's cellmates Israelis, when he was inside?

The subtitled videos by DanbenNoah and Zelhar are a great change to learn. Perhaps this is our change, like Chaim had his with the speaches of Rabbi Kahane. :)
I think it will go easier with this in addition to books. O0
