Title: Good Shul in Forest Hills / Good Judaism Classes
Post by: Moodsformoderns on June 01, 2008, 01:50:55 PM
Can you wonderful people advise me of good shuls, good Judaism classes to re-introduce me to Judaism in the Forest Hills area.  I am not orthordox but want a modern (only) orthodox synagogue and place where an older woman can feel comfortable.  Also any books to re-introduce me to the Torah.  I can read Hebrew but will get a refresher course (that is easy to find) but want to understand more of the Jewish philosophy.
thank you so much,

Definitly, go to the Shul in 108 street. Beit Gavriel.

Beth Gavriel Congregation - 66-35 108th Street, Forest Hills 11375

They have a lot of learning, lectures, events their. Its a very nice shul with many great people. Wednesday nights Rabbi Mizrachi usualy comes. Saturday night they have a video lecture by Rabbi Wallerstein. They have get togethers and events, like the one I went to last sunday which was very good (lecture, comedy, food, dancing, meeting people).

On Shabbat I hear their are many people their (Its a big shul Bli Ayin Hara), so definitly check it out.

Also when your home you can learn from lectures at www.Torahanytime.com - Very good Rabbi's including Rabbi Mizrachi, Rabbi Wallerstein, Rabbi Ben Haim and much more.

Here is the flier to the lecture. Let me know. It would also be a good opportunity to ask around, any questions you have, and askl the people volunteeing their about when you can come in for Shabb-t services, and anything else you need. All the best, let me know how it went.
