Title: Personal stuff
Post by: Masha on July 02, 2008, 04:03:11 AM
What what secion of the forum is now deemed as appropriate for sharing and discussing personal issues? Before, there used to be many such topics in "General Discussion." Now the "General Discussion" section seems to be reserved for political topics only. What if one wants to share a happy or sad event in one's life or ask for advice about a personal situation? Where should one go?

I don't see why you can't post it in the general section.  What's going on?

Masha, you're right that on many forums there is a special subforum for personal issues.

On our forum, we were forced to drastically cut the number of subforums and child boards (which are like sub-subforums). We had literally dozens of unnecessary subforums and many dozens of child boards within the subforums. While our new forum structure is not perfect, it is a huge improvement over the chaos and lunacy that existed until a few days ago. Baruch HaShem, the chaos and lunacy are gone, and now we can run a professional and clean forum.

Masha, you can open threads wherever you feel comfortable doing so. This is your forum. This forum belongs to all of our great members.

We need to cut back on the 'personal stuff' and frivolous posts until after the election.

Actually, we can have both.

It's just that when I think of the time and energy expended on frivolous posts when that time and energy could have been better spend trying to bring down the horror of a man who would destroy America and Israel, it's disheartenng.
