I haven't seen the jtf forum operational on friday night in a very long time. Was their a change in policy?
-
probably not a change in policy... someone just forgot... i'm inl.a. so it's not shabat for me yet... nik. out...
-
I thought it was supposed to close
Maybe there are no admin on at the moment to close
-
Who usually shuts it down friday afternoon?

Yakov

Oh, I guess they forgot to assign that responsibility over to someone else now that Yacov left. This explains this slip up.

Sometimes the forum would close here well before sundown
-
Yaacov used to do it...hmmm :(
-
Actually, There Are No Israeli Arabs would decide on the times to shut down the forum, and pm the info to me. Now that he's gone, either Yacov or Chaim would shut the forum down. But now that Yacov is gone, it looks like Chaim might have forgotten about it.
Personally, I've become a bit of a JTF addict, so I'm kind of glad we're still online.

Me too, although I dont always post, I always check out the jtf forum when I go online. I hate seeing the screen telling me that it was shut down for shabbos.
-
That's odd. Usually it always closes on Friday evening which ironically is the so-called holy day for Muslims.
-
I actually think its a bad idea to shut the forum down friday afternoon. If people want to violate the shabbat, it will happen regardless of whether jtf is offline or not. I think that if people are violating the sabbath, it should at least be for a righteous reason like saving Israel.

if there are any jews here from ny or isr. you should please stop posting now in deference to jtf's wishes that no one here break shabat at jtf's expense... please get off now and stay off until sat. nite your time and don't read anything here either... honor system this week... nik. out... i' in l.a. so it's not shabat here yet... but this is my last post too... nik. out shabat shalom l'kulam...m

Personally, I don't see posting on the forum as any different than talking on the phone. But out of respect for Chaim, I think I'll shut the site down now.

thanks for doing that lisa...I'm not shomer shabbat, but it's the right thing to do...
-
And now we're back online!
-
Yeah, Lisa had told me that she forgot to close it. I didn't know myself since I don't go on Friday nights anymore because I know it is closed. As for the policy itself, I support it, because I support Chaim's wishes of helping Jews be obedient to halacha.
One wonders why the supposedly uber-religious Jews over at the puppy mill haven't thought of closing their two-bit joke board on Shabbat. ::)

Right On! Observe the Shabbat!
