The name Montenegro, derived from the Venetian translation of the native Serbian name Crna Gora, is an exonym, a name found in other languages except in the native language, in the phonetic sense in this case. Stronger examples include Hungary (Magyarorság), Germany (Deutschland), Japan (Nihon/Nippon), Croatia (Hrvatska), Greece (Έλλας/Hellas), Armenia (Hayastan), Albania (Shqiptëria), etc... An exonym doesn't necessarily mean a link to a colonial legacy.

My mother's roots are in Crna Gora (a few generations back), and my father's roots are in Hercegovina (also a few generations back).
-
Zoran,I knew that, since you write like Serb from Montenegro.plus good blood from Hercegovina. :-* :-*

I was born in Sarajevo, but I was brought up to write ekavski, but when I speak it's obvious I'm from Sarajevo since that's what I grew up hearing.
