I just watched this man blabber for 20 minutes and can't really figure out what he was saying... Did anyone else see this? Could you explain what he was saying... It sounds like he is a new-age idiot to me.

Don't give him any extra credit. He is just a plain old idiot.

I saw him on FOX on the Huckabee show...
And then they had that slimeball Bill Mahr on... Oy, I never ran for the remote control faster... And then TVLand was running Opies pro-Obama so-called comedy... I am now watching the weather channel.

Here is a discussion of what Dreyfuss was blabing about. He appears to be a fan of the enlightenment which places human progress as the most important ideal. His ideology has no room for our G-d.

lol ....it seemed like a lot of fluffy verbiage . (while I was doing something else)
Maher was more to the point ....very contemptuous and intolerant of religion

welcome to Hollwierd Muman  who knows ..... same thing w/Michelle Obama. I heard a diatribe the other day, you feel like you've taken a beating.
i doubt Richard Dreyfus even knows what he's saying  :yuck:

Huckabee handled himself well with those schmucks.

Dreyfus, Along with every other secular "scholar" selectivly reads history...To them this is always the way history is interpreted...
Religion (which they lump all of them together) is bad and evil...it caused war, superstition and darkness. Religion kept humanity form progress...The enlightenment with its total secularist outlook brought the world science, realism and progress...
The real truth is that starting with the age of revolution until now, wars waged by secular nations (both democratic and totalitarian) have killed more people (French Revolution, American Civil War, WWI, WWII, Chinenese Communist Revolution, Russian Revolution, Civil War in Sri Lanka, The Killing Fields, Abortion, etc...) than the religious wars did in the past two thousand years...
As far as science and progress well Great religious minds like Miamonades, Issac Newton, and Galileo are proof enough that man is able to be both religious and scientific...

Did anyone notice how pitifully angry Dreyfus and Maher looked?
Huckabee seems like a genuinely nice guy by contrast.

Huckabee handled himself well with those schmucks.
The more I see of Huckabee, the more I realize that he usually does handle himself well.

Maher asked the same old question:
"If G-d exists and is a loving Deity, why do bad things happen to good people. Why do children suffer?"
Huckabee gave a good answer but I was hoping that he would give the answer that Chaim gives regarding free will.

How good would you like Huckabee to be? He's good...but not that good. ;D

One of the greatest mistakes that (L)iberals make is that they assume that there is a contradiction between science and religion. I know many in the scientific community who observe Torah and keep kosher and take their children to schull. It takes a very simple mind to say "I believe in science, so there is no room in my life for G-d."
America was founded upon the principles of the enlightenment, but it was also founded upon Christianity. It is true that the founding fathers decided that the government should not honour any religious establishment, but that was only because there were many different Christian denominations. Judaism had already been established in the United States, which the fathers also respected and didn't want to see oppressed by government.
This does not mean however, that the fathers envisioned a completely secular society.
Richard Dreyfus can say what he wants about religion. He is a sick, evil excuse for a man. Anybody who studies history honestly, should recognize that the greatest calamities were brought about by secularists, the "enlightened ones". Fascism, nazism, communism, etc. So much for the idea that science at the expense of religion is virtuous.
