Title: Shopping at Walmart

Why is it when I shop at walmart I hear "We need a Spanish speaking associate in the hardware department." ??? 

Why is it when I check out, using my debit card, the little screen says "Please pick a language, Spanish or English. ???

Why is it when I go to Walmart I see "wet floor" signs in Spanish ? ???

 Why is it , I feel like I'm in Mexico, instead of AMERICA? ???

Where I work, the Managers have too have translators, to speak with the workers. Why? ???

Where I work, the Managers can take classes too learn Spanish, so they can speak with the workers. WHY ???

 Isn't Multiculteralism great !

I work in a hospital in the New York area.
A few years ago the hospital conducted an employee satisfaction survey.
I was pulled from my unit to participate in the survey.
Sitting behind me were a row of spanish speaking employees.
A spanish/english speaking employee was with them to translate the verbal instructions of the survey company person - only.
This person stayed with them and chatted through out the whole time they took the survey - distracting everyone else in the room.
A survey I later found out was written in spanish - no translation required.
When I was done I gave a piece of my mind to the survey person and as many of my superiors that I could - to no avail.
In fact they looked at me like I was crazy.
How does a HOSPITAL hire nonenglish speaking people for any position.  How does that not jepordize the patients care?
How scary is it for a housekeeper to park her garbage cart in front of the crashcarts and not be able to understand me when I try to explain how inappropriate that is?
I'm baffled.  I agree with  you both.

That's a horrible story - Geez you are so right - Lack of communication can be very dangerous in a health care situation
