It is made from a fish called Lodde or Capelin.

The Lodde belongs to the Salmons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capelin

There is a German caviar too, that I bought today. It is very cheap and is from the sea rabbit or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumpsucker but it tastes great.

This is not kosher, because the Sea rabbit or Lumpsucker has no scalls.

Oh I forgot: The Lodde caviar looks exactly like the caviar of the sea rabbit.

The taste is salty and only a little bit fishy.

I would like to try caviar one day just to see what it's like but I've never tried it.
