I met my future to be twice the same way until we went out.

THe first time we were introduced at a party/club.  Nice decent conversation..we didn't think of dating each other.
The second time at another party same exact conversation.
The third time leaving a party as she was trying to get in..and they didn't let her so i took her out of the line and we went for tea...and that's how it began.

Getting married in 2 weeks.

I personally think Church/Temple gives you the best match.  But Schools gives you a HUGE variety of potential mates that are easily accessible... but of course you have to screen out the 'free-thinking' types.

Mazal tov, Dr. Dan.

I stink at meeting potential mates.  There are some women that meet a guy they like.  They go after him, and get him.  I'm clearly the opposite of those women.

That's true, but there are two problems. First, I have trouble meeting women period (but that's another story). And second, there are very few truly conservative Christian churches in NY.. many of them are more like social clubs with a mass in between. And most of the born again Christian churches are not white.. mainly Korean and Taiwanese.

Vito, I think the best thing to do is try every opportunity that comes your way including chance encounters in public.

Well I would but all my friends tell me that I give off a very negative aura. I'm told I'm too "serious" and I look like a serial killer that wants to shoot up the place.

Through a friend I used to work with.  He and another work friend conspired to hook me up with his sister because they thought we had a lot in common.  Luckily they were correct and we got married a few years later.

Vito, you DO NOT look like a serial killer.  You're attractive, bright, and a good guy.

No way. You should have no problem attracting hot girls. You're far better looking than me, which isn't saying much. But regardless, good luck!

I'm not talking about my looks, I mean the vibe that I give off. But I don't want to go on about my problem on the forum, it's a complicated situation that I have to deal with.

Vito, very soon, David Ben Moshe and I are to be married- we met in NY.  I was visiting NY from CALI, and he asked me to go to Katz's Deli, I said yes, and we fell in love, right away. Just like that.  We were friends online and sort of liked each-other- but we knew there was really no future that way- and then I will have to say that divine providence just happened.

Dude, seriously?

I tend to have what mental health experts call a "flat affect." But that's only when I'm around people who just want to talk about random b.s. I realize that my emotional state changes when I surround myself around intellectuals. Particularly people who are both smart and funny.

If your close friends are telling you that you take yourself too seriously, I'd listen to them and just try to relax. I've forced myself to have a more pleasant demeanor. I'm still not "open" to being around certain people and participating in certain things, but I've become more flexible. I don't know what your exact situation is, and I'm purposefully trying not to go into too much detail about my situation. I'm trying to be as vague as possible. As it relates to this thread, I think that once you've found that potential significant other your whole vibe could change.
