I found this on Facebook. A Rabbi is running for the state senate in California in the 26th District

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is a great pastor he is very conservative.

Even though he has an awesome platform though I think Chaim said it was a sin for a Jew to be elected outside of Israel.

Especially if he also lives in Israel, he should be involved in Israeli politics instead.

But he must be an American citizen, no? If so, wouldn't it be GOOD for him to be elected and to help the Jewish population in the United States? Plus help those who are not, see how GOOD and RIGHTEOUS the Jews are? Just wondering!

The real problem is that no matter what he does he will be the brunt of anti-semitic propaganda. Either he is part of the Jewish conspiracy or he is a part of the New World Order or some other slander. And even if he succeeds he will be blamed for things which are beyond his control. Usually I am against Jews being involved in politics because it has a way of bringing bad things to the Jewish people.

he really should be running as an MP in Israel, not the US (the Rabbi.)

I think I heard that he got kicked out of Israel for railing against the Palestinians.  I don't know though it's something I read on the JDL website which is now not the same organization that was founded by Kahane.  They actually villanize Shiffren for not being self hating.
